    Mother Crone

    Mother Crone

    Earth Mother
    in cold December
    her heart frozen over
    full of strength
    fragile as glass
    let the world mourn
    Persephone entombed
    her sweet warmth
    blush of life stolen
    Demeter raves
    death touches
    the world.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. ~ Edgar Allan Poe

Nice, very pagan. I celebrate the abduction of Persephone every year.

I kept looking, forcing myself not to blink, and then the brightness began to dissolve. My pupils shrunk to pinholes and everything came into focus and for a moment I understood. The doctors didn't know if my eyes would ever heal."

Thank you, yes, I celebrate Thesmosphoria, the celebration and honor of Demeter this time of year.

The ancient Goddesses make for a most delightful read. I am a Christian, but I haven't forgotten my studies of ancient deities...
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Hehe thank you, Demeter is one most near and dear to my heart and this time of year I always feel a particular closeness to her.

"blush of life stolen" is the line that sums up the devastating nature of her absence. I can tell this poem means a lot to you, thanks for sharing, it is beautiful !
