    June 24, 2004<br><br>I have been a Sherlock Holmes fan for years. Some years ago I obtained the complete anthology and have read and re-read it. I have always treasured A Study in Scarlet because even though we are thoroughly introduced to Holmes, we never really know him. <br><br>I have always said that every new police cadet should have a copy of A Study in Scarlet on their desk. New technology notwithstanding, the deductive process as applied by Holmes, would not go amiss in today's police academies.<br><br>Gayle Kohlenberg

    I will also treasure a Study in Scarlet, and I agree. If the police where I live got their act together things would be a lot better. At the moment it's a wonder any of them can find their own trousers let alone a criminal!
