hey guys, I had to read this book for my english class. I thought it was gonna be the most boring thing I had ever read, well....It's not! I LOVED IT!

What's so difficult about it, except a few long vocab words that will do you good. A guy marries someone he shouldn't have, she is sick all the time, they take on a gal to help around the house, Ethan goes crazy over her, she likes him to, they are in a bind, they can't take it any longer so they get in a sleigh intending to commit hari-kari. It doesn't work but they are both severely injured. And the sick wife has to take care of the two of them and Ethan goes around collecting mail looking grim and has a big gash on his face.

It's a tragic love story. Very sensitive and lovely characters, except the crabby wife. Tremendously deep love story.

Henrik Ibsen earlier did the same sort of ending in a play, "Rosmersholm," but still the finale is fresh and unique.
