    The Conservative Bible Project

The stated purpose of The Conservative Bible Project is to remove 'liberal bias' from the Bible and create a "Conservative Bible."

    Comments? Observations?

It's about time someone decided to purge The Bible of all that touchy-feely nonsense. That love your neighbor **** never sat well with me.

Conservapedia is 50% trolls and 50% lunatics, it's both horrifying and hilariously odd.

Hahahahahahahaa omg this is soooooo funny, and it says SOOO much about some conservatives on so many levels.

Though I'm sure that not all conservatives are like this and find this appauling. . . .at least I hope so. . .

In the wise words of Stephen Colbert, "Reality is known to have a very strong liberal bias."

Okay, this is getting too political.

Btw, having read the Bible, here's some advice to my dear conservative friends working on this project: Scrap the whole of the New Testament

Um, what is "liberal wordiness" anyway? And why delete use of the word "Jehovah?" Is that also a "liberal" word????? Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

    re: "The Conservative Bible Project"

Doesn't surprise me. That's why I'm grateful for direction from modern day prophets. From The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Articles of Faith:
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
[italics and bold inserted by me]

In my humble opinion, the above statement goes for any version of the Bible; and until further notice from my church authorities the King James Version of the Bible will be what I use to study in addition to our Latter Day scriptures.

Others may disagree and I respect their views.

Ooh this os just too good to be treue! If this was fake, or some sketch for SNL or the like, I would've considered it comedic genius!

    Look at this!

Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms to capture better the original intent;[4] Defective translations use the word "comrade" three times as often as "volunteer"; similarly, updating words that have a change in meaning, such as "word", "peace", and "miracle".
identify pro-liberal terms used in existing Bible translations, such as "government", and suggest more accurate substitutes
identify conservative terms that are omitted from existing translations, and propose where they could improve the translation
In stage one, the translation could focus on word improvement and thereby be described as a "conservative word-for-word" translation. If greater freedom in interpretation is then desired, then a "conservative thought-for-thought" version could be generated as a second stage.
Is this a corruption of the original, perhaps promoted by liberals without regard to its authenticity? This does not appear in any other Gospel, and the simple fact is that some of the persecutors of Jesus did know what they were doing. This quotation is a favorite of liberals, although it does not appear in the earliest and best manuscripts of the Gospel of Luke. It should not appear in a conservative Bible, because in point of fact Jesus might never had said it at all.
    My personal favorite

Socialistic terminology permeates English translations of the Bible, without justification. This improperly encourages the "social justice" movement among Christians.

For example, the conservative word "volunteer" is mentioned only once in the ESV, yet the socialistic word "comrade" is used three times, "laborer(s)" is used 13 times, "labored" 15 times, and "fellow" (as in "fellow worker") is used 55 times.

Man, they just really hate 'dem liiiiberals.

You see, the conservatives have infultrated the liberals secret language. Words such as 'government', 'welfare' or 'equality' actually have a hidden communist message behind them such as 'Hiel Hitler' or 'Il duce Mussolini

I learned this all from Glenn Beck

I hear Hitler is making a comeback, rewriting the Torah to remove a Jewish bias...

Honestly, what a load of twaddle. Talk about hijacking another movement to serve your own...

There is certainly just as much conservative bias in the bible as liberal bias. But to say that one is evil and one is not shows much arrogance.

Well, the thing that makes this article so funny is that; there is no liberal bias in either of the Testaments because they were written over 2,000 frickin years ago! Liberalism as it is today was vastly different even three-hundred years ago. There may be 'liberal' aspects in it, but not vivid enough to call it 'liberal', much less say that it has a 'liberal bias' (I still can't help it but burst out laughing )

I just love how some (not all) conservatives see a liberal conspiracy in everything, even the Bible (a text that most Republicans supposidly cherish).

So do they have bible scholars that are reading in the original languages to ensure they are staying true?

That was kind of my thiing. I don't think that the words "liberal" or "conservative" existed 2,000 years ago, or even four centuries ago.
