What is rosebud? Who is Orson Wells and who is Citizen Kane?

Whenever someone says they don't know what Rosebud is, an angel drops a snow globe.

Was just watching some mindless game show, and the question was what did "rosebud" refer to in Orson Welles masterpiece Citizen Kane. . . .nobody knew!!!! None of the three contestants had any idea!!! You have got to be kidding me!

Okay, I know that not everybody has seen Citizen Kane, but it's virtually known as the greatest film ever made and not a single person had ever heard of it! Alright, I know that I'm overreacting, but I feel personally insulted.

Hopefully somebody like Mathor, Janine or manolia will come to my defence before I am torn apart for being unreasonably pretenscious

Maybe I should shut up before I insult anyone.

I mean, I've seen that movie more times than I can count and I think "what is rosebud" is is a very hard question to answer, honestly. The literal meaning is obvious, but the metaphorical meaning is a lot more complex.

(i'm not going to give my views on such because I would certainly not want to spoil such a good movie.)

Anyway, I still prefer "Gone with the Wind" as a movie.

Oh of course, the meaning is quite complex, but the answer was merely the literal meaning.

I haven't seen it, but it's known to be extremely iconic and the begining of the tradition of the Spahgetti Western.

(It also happens to be one of Quentin Tarantino's top five favorite films rimbaud )
