I completely disagree with you! The book is definitely not childish. Twain uses simple language and slang in order to represent realism, which he is very well known for. The book is AP caliber. It contains a lot of satire and is a picaresque story. There is definitely a lot to learn. I don't think young kids would ever understand the meaning of the story. Huck is going through the process of maturing and he is torn between society and his own individual fellings. He finally does what he believes is right and does not turn in his good friend him, who is a slave. As for the language, Mark Twain is not racist! He uses the "n" word for realism, and Twain actually had many friends that were black.
