Thread: Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy.

    Arrow Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy.

I was wondering whether any one of you horrendously cultured and intelligent LitNetters has anything to say about Cocteau's Orphic Trilogy, or more specifically the first installment: Le sang d'un počte. The aforementioned can be roughly summarized as Jean Cocteau's thoughts on the role of the poet in society in the form of some very surrealist images (though the surrealists at the time were hesitant to call him one of their own). Here is a clip. I found the film beautiful and stirring in a paradoxically detached manner. Any thoughts on the abundance of metaphors? Or general comments on the film(s) itself?

Sorry, I'm only familiar with Cocteau's La Belle et la Bete, and considering how immensely difficult it has been to find a copy where I live, I can't imagine finding copies of his other works. Thank you for the clip though! Good luck!
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

I'm fairly certain LBLB can be considered his "crowning glory" and therefore that with which most people are familiar -- no apology necessary! Thanks all the same for the response and really, if ever you get the chance to watch even a few scenes of the film, I'd highly recommend it.
