    Booker shortlist announced

The shortlist has been announced today, with the winner announced on 6th October. The final 6 are:

    Wolf Hall - Hilary Mantel
    The Children's Book - A.S.Byatt
The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters
    Summertime - J.M.Coetzee
The Quickening Maze - Adam Foulds
The Glass Room - Simon Mawer

Mantel is the hottest favourite ever, the bookies were hoping she wouldn't make the shortlist as there has been so much money bet on her. I hope she does win, although I haven't read the book yet it is on my TBR list, and I'm reading another of hers at the moment. She is an excellent writer. She has been nominated before but never won. If Coetzee wins he will be the first person ever to have won 3 times. A good selection I think. For the first time ever, I quite fancy all of them. Anyone read any yet?

Here's a link to the selection.

I just read an article about this on my home page, and don't know Mantel, so I will have to get my reading list notes in order. Thanks wessex.
