I didn't know what avis means, but I cared enough to find out, and I came up with this, on Wiktionary and Dictionary.com respectively:
Avis
-noun
1. (obsolete) advice; opinion; deliberation.
–noun
a female given name: from a Latin word meaning “bird.”
(I've also seen "avys" to be a short form for "avatars", but can it be "avis" as well?)
Next person will tell me if what I found as meanings of avis is correct or if I skipped something.
