i saw the musical a few years ago and soon after became very interested in the actual book, so i bought it. i really liked it; i think that the mystery involved with the whole 'is he/isnt he?' (which seems to have troubled a few other reviewers) enhances the book because it makes a person think.<br><br>i also like the paradox that eriks character represents - on one hand, a reader might feel sorry for him; on the other, he is a villian, after all. it shows a very 'human' quality - usually, villians are just that. in this case, the reader gets to understand (and perhaps even slightly identify) with erik.<br><br>all-in-all, id say it was an awesome book. i definitely recommend it.
