A curious word of onomatopoeian order -

    susurrus - noun
    su⋅sur⋅rus [soo-sur-uhs]
plural - su⋅sur⋅rus⋅es. a soft murmuring or rustling sound; whisper.

In the great hall, before the Sacrament meeting started, the congregational tone was a reverent susurrus of fellowship greeting.

Autumn leaves dancing along the ground in a light breeze engage in a soft susurrus of sound.
