I am a a third year high school student( age 17) in the usa. I think that there are many levels to the book and most are not coprehendable for a young child. However reading it at a young age allows for a basic understanding that is easily built upon in a second and third reading later in the students education.

Understanding this book requires basic ethology knowledge, as well as life experience and some reading skills.

I will never understand then why people insists in including this work among the ones in the low-grades school curricula (e.g, in my country- it is mandatory for the 3rd degree- chlidren 9-10 years). I think it would be very difficult to really understand this book for everyone bellow 14 years (even so...).

Florin
