1986. I have just seen it last Wednesday!! Lucky me!!!Some people do believe that the original novel was written in 1911, but it was actually written in 1905, it was TRANSLATED into English in 1911. So don't get it wrong...
I received the CD of the original musical record of the Phantom of the Opera on Tuesday, I listen to it every single day. I can't go to sleep without listening to it.

Then you must have seen Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton's version. That's the original version.
I saw it on June 19, 2008 for the first time and I will never forget it! I went with my vocal class and it was AMAZING! My hands were sore from clapping by the end of the curtain call.

I saw it just this February in Las Vegas, though I know that the Vegas version is quite a bit shorter than the original.
I've seen it six times - twice in Portland, OR and four times in Vegas.
