I wrote this as an update of Catullus' poem #55

I look for you each day
    when I log on
    have followed comments
    with your bite
back to author pages of teenagers
in Iceland – once, a doctor
in Arizona, but he knew no Italian

    the emo goth erotic
    chat room spider web
shows no recent trace of you
I would know your words anywhere
    by my body’s response

even your poems have been deleted
    though I saved some
    I feel like Miss Haversham
    when I retrieve, and read

    chance combinations of letters
    make my pulse race
like a profile, glimpsed on a city street
    and panting, I pursue —
    it’s never you

I guess I only want to know
    that you’re OK
that our love play was practice for you

    and something good for someone
    has come about, somehow

    anyway

    This is brilliant.
