No her birthday is the same day as mine sept 9th.
and its red, well Im trying to think of some kind of math puzzle I can hide in teh quilt, or some kind of equation that can be represnted with geometric shapes. It would be easier if I understood exactly what it is about maths she likes, but I don't.

Ive decided to make a sister a quilt for her day, shes a mathamatician type person.
So I want some kind of cool math thing ( originlly I wasthinking somekind of geometric represntation of some kind of radical equation, or something, but yeah) that I can hide amongst the patches and stiches.
Quilts with secrets ad puzzles in them are the best!

interesting. I'll think about it. :-)

(if it were physically possible to do a mandlebrot set in the stitching, I'd suggest that... as it is, there could only be an approximation)

What about fractals Nightshade. Very big in maths and science these days and quite beautiful too. Rather you than me if you have to sew them though!

Type 'fractal' into google images and you can see some examples.

A fractal is generally "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole,"[1] a property called self-similarity. Roots of mathematical interest on fractals can be traced back to the late 19th Century, the term however was coined by Benoît Mandelbrot in 1975 and was derived from the Latin fractus meaning "broken" or "fractured." A mathematical fractal is based on an equation that undergoes iteration

when you say she is a mathematical type person, is she an algebraist, a geometrist, a graph theorist, a number theorist, a something else-ist?
