Shakespeare today--In need of opinions! Please help!
I'm writing a paper on Shakespeare's popularity in modern day. I'm particularly considering how film adaptations, especially modernized ones, do well in our society. If you've seen the film Romeo + Juliet (with Leonardo Di Caprio and Claire Danes) I'd particularly like to hear your thoughts on what that film did with the play and whether or not you thought it worked. I'd also like any thoughts on why Shakespeare is still widely read and performed and your opinion on whether or not it should be. All opinions on this topic would be appreciated and detailed answers even more so! THANK YOU!
