It's your birthday! Collect $10 from every member - hey that would actually come to quite a nice sum wouldn't it?

Ok, I am going to work my way down in THANK YOU'S. I could not believe seeing this when I opened the page last night, just prior to going off to bed; I had just gotten my birthday card from Cirque du Soleil and then I send a few out to friends myself; then when I saw your great photo Mono I was surprised and delighted. Aren't they the coolest? I will be sure to copy this photo to my C d S folder offline. Thanks so much!

Virgil, my good friend, and thoughful one. I love the photo of Lawrence. I haven't seen that one before either. It was when he lived in Mexico I believe. I do have some in a book on his travels but I don't think I have that one exactly. I can always use a new one for my offline L file. I love the readings. I had heard the first one awhile back, but I never found 'Piano' on Youtube before. I have "Snake" being read; I think I send it to you via Youtube, but if not, I will send it again. I love that poem also; I am slightly familiar with it; I read it long time ago. It is lovely, reminds me of Degas' women bathing. Lawrence had a way with poetry; it feels very natural. The ballet birthday card is perfect!

Happy birthday, Janine! Hope everything is going well with you today. How are birthdays with you normally? Do you take time for parties and everything or is just like any other day?
Geez, Quark, how dull do I appear to you? haha.....better not answer that one....parties? What are they? I vaguely recall someone giving me one years back. Mostly at this age, you are right, it is more like any other day; however, today my grand-daughter is coming to visit around 2:30, so that will be super special and she will bring the party with her. I will ask her to play me "Happy Birthday" on the piano. Hopefully, I will get some more wonderful photos of the little maestro...haha. Other than that, I did mention a party to my mother yesterday. I said 'since next year will be one of those landmark birthdays, I do think they could all get a party together for me'. What do you think? If one makes it to the big six 'O', I think we deserve a nice party, don't you? At anyrate, right here is most of my party today, here among some of my best friends! Thanks for the birthday greetings and cakes everyone!

    Happy birthday, Janine!
Hope we can be friends, here..
You have the same name with my student. She is beautiful but naughty sometimes
haha...sounds like me; NOT! I may have been beautiful as a baby - my mother tells me I won a beauty contest for babies once; I may also have been a little naughty sometimes in the past. I am good now.
Why of course I will be your friend; do put in a request in my page so I can accept. I hope you like it here. So welcome to this great forum!

Pensive, my dear friend...you are so sweet with these extraordinary cakes - the first one is huge and looks so pretty, yummy, too!!! I love it! Tinkerbell is perfect on the top. Brooke was Tinkerbell for Halloween. How did you know I love lavender, too and the flowers are so lovely around the edge. I think I will have a piece right now. The second is wonderul as well; I love the candleglow. I will start with a piece from around the edge. This is going to be good...ummmmm.... Now the third is inedible, right? That is so cute. I never saw a blow-up cake before. I love it, too! Thanks for all!

Have a very happy birthday, Janine! Hope you spend a nice relaxing day with those you love!
Thanks to the three waving cats and you, Kizzo! I think it will be relaxing since my precious Brooke is coming to visit me today. Can't wait. It should be such fun. I bought her a new toy so she will be delighted. She also loves that piano. Hope to get more nice photos today.

My good friend, downing, thank you so much; the card was so cute and your cake looks deeeelicious! I hope all these are carlorie free - I will indulge all day long.

Subby, I have been trying to figure out what you coded message says - is it happy birthday real big? It looks very cool anyway; must have taken you a long time to do that. It certainly lights up the place. Thanks for you artistic greetings!

sprinks, papayahed, baz, muhsin, Logos, optimisticnad Thanks so much for all your wonderful wishes!

andave_ya, thanks and I will wait to see what you come up with. You are so sweet.

manolia, my good friend, likewise...thanks for your birthday wishes!

I hope I got everyone so far; I will check later to make sure.

hahaha.....yes, the garden has been ready for hours now; so where are the guests? I will keep it open all week long so we can extend the celebration.

The very happiest of birthdays to you!!!
It has been the greatest. My son and his wife brought my sweet grand-daughter over to visit. They stayed for dinner and it was a super nice time. We had cupcakes they had brought with them for my birthday. I put a candle on one and made a wish. They all sung and Brooke was delighted with it all. Not sure she ever saw a candle on cake before. Also she played me "Happy Birthday" on the piano. She and I had a grand time! Now I am so totally happy - this has been one of my best birthdays ever! Grand-daughters are so much fun. She just turned 9 months and is nearly walking.

    And here are my presents:
    First, the obvious :

Oh my gosh, these cookies look so delectable! I even love the container. You always come up such great cookies and they are my favorites - I can't get enough cookies at Christmastime.

    and then the not-so-obvious :

    Have fun practising!

And please don't ever leave LitNet!
How did you know that I always wanted a set of drums? haha... I think they would be great fun. We can hire the rest of the band for the garden party and I will play the drums! Better bring earplugs....

Thanks, Schokokeks....your gifts are great fun!

She is just too much Janine. This is the second time at the piano. I expect her at Carnegie Hall in a few years.

Well, one thing is for certain she sure has the enthusiasm for the piano. She looks so little sitting there, doesn't she? I have a short video I will send you the link to; it is from last time she played. Unfortunately, I am in it too and don't find it that flattering; I wish I could blur out that part, you know, like they do criminal's faces...haha. But wait till you see how funny she is when playing and hear her, as well. It is a scream! Today, she was like an old pro at it. She even kept her legs going to the rhythm; live it was too funny to see.

That is toooo sweet of you, Janine -- it is your special day and you purchase a toy for Brooke! The world should be filled with more Janines.

Brooke looks like a natural at the piano. When I was very wee, they could not keep me from a piano, and now I am older (a lot older, lol), but I do know my way around one. So it appears that a person just knows what they want from a very early age. My guess is that little Brooke just feels in her heart that the piano is her thing. I believe in that, I truly do. Hugs to all of you, ~K♥zzo

Kizzo, don't you know that grandma's can't go anywhere without picking up something for their grandkid(s); in my case, having only one, I enjoy spoiling her. I gave her a little train for Christmas that goes with batteries, but she prefers to push it herself; little ones can be so independent! Then I saw these cute stacking vehicles a few weeks ago and thought she would love them; they just roll along - sometimes the simplist toys are really the best. I found them on a clearance table, so the price was just right. Usually, I end up with some kind of adorable outfit for her. I don't think I can go past a baby department anymore without buying something; just so much fun. This time my mother bought her a cute little spring dress - figures, since they are predicting snow overnight and way more to come tomorrow night.

Now that is really promising to know. You must have been so cute; do you have any photos? I have one my mother took of me standing at 9 months at the left end of the piano with one figure on a key; my mother said I was walking at the time. I do think Brooke loves music and she certainly seems to adore the piano, although she does not last long - her attention span is not yet that developed, but give her time. She also does the cutest thing; she is always holding her feet in a ballet type pose. It is so funny to see. Maybe she will take to music and dance, who knows?

andave_ya, I love these! This has been a great birthday. I love that picture of the ballerina. I snitched it for my offline file on Degas. I didn't have that one yet. I love those dotted teacups - how cute. The poster of the cake is perfect!

I just started a thread for Hira's birthday; I send a card earlier to email, but I failed to check if there was a thread, so now it is a little belated. If any of you know Hira, please wish a happy birthday to my birthday twin. Thanks so much. I feel badly I did not start it earlier and on the actual 28th, not the 29th....oh well, better late than never. Thanks all!
