Maddy, that birthday hat/cake is adorable! I just love it. I just now realised I send in my interview and listed many people I would like to meet, but failed to list your name specifically; I did say there were many many others I had not listed...the list was getting excessively long; hope you are not mad at me. Thank you for starting my birthday thread! You are definitely a lovely thoughful person, who I would love to meet someday.

Happy birthday, Janine! Hope everything is going well with you today. How are birthdays with you normally? Do you take time for parties and everything or is just like any other day?

Happy Birthday my dear friend.Let's try to get you some birthday presents;
How about a photo of DH Lawrence that I've never seen. Perhaps this will be new or you too:
How about a reading from Sons and Lovers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeTt_4sjWxI
and how about a reading of one of your favorite Lawrence poems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PapzbXDs2QA
How about just a written Lawrence poem for your reading pleasure:
And finally have a great birthday.Gloire de Dijon
by DH Lawrence
When she rises in the morning
I linger to watch her;
She spreads the bath-cloth underneath the window
And the sunbeams catch her
Glistening white on the shoulders,
While down her sides the mellow
Golden shadow glows as
She stoops to the sponge, and her swung breasts
Sway like full-blown yellow
Gloire de Dijon roses.
She drips herself with water, and her shoulders
Glisten as silver, they crumple up
Like wet and falling roses, and I listen
For the sluicing of their rain-dishevelled petals.
In the window full of sunlight
Concentrates her golden shadow
Fold on fold, until it glows as
Mellow as the glory roses.![]()

"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
Have a very happy birthday, Janine! Hope you spend a nice relaxing day with those you love!

Happy Birthday!
The source of any bad writing is the desire to be something more than a person of sense--the straining to be thought a genius. If people would say what they have to say in plain terms, how much eloquent they would be.
