I wish I was Elizabeth Taylor (up until she she started looking like a cartoon and marrying someone new every three days).
I love "A Place in the Sun". Why the 4/10, *Classic*? I really thought it was a good vintage film; I have repeated viewing it; my library owns it. Elizabeth looked stunning in this movie. I believe she was quite young.

**This documentary film should be required viewing for every provincial-minded American pushing for tighter restrictions on legal immigration to the US. This film should also be viewed by every dreamy-eyed non-American who believes the US is the land of opportunity. Just watch it, a'right.

Yes, she was around 21 if my calculations are correct. And yes, she was too beautiful for words. And that voice!

It gets a 4/10 simply for Montgomery Clift's terrible acting. It kills me that he received an oscar nomination for it.

    Walk the Line-- 9.8/10
We watched this yesterday for my niece's movie review assignment.
My sister fancy Johnny Cash *laughs*

I loved this movie and I own it now, eye. I thought it really depicted Johnny Cash, who I liked very much in my younger days. The story was well acted and very entertaining. I can imagine watching it again. I loved the way June and her family really turned Johnny around and got him straight again. Good flick and I would rate it the same as you did.

Yes, I imagine your sister does fancy JC; or did she go for the actor playing him? haha

haha...*Classic*...so Clift drug poor Elizabeth down with your 4/10 rating. Come on, I didn't think he was that bad. I did think that E was absolutely beautiful and stunning in the car scenes. It made ones heart stop to see such young fresh beauty on screen. I love her in "National Velvet", of course. She is just darling in that film in my opinion and a rare young beauty as well.

I was "W" last night -- I liked it. I think Stone did a good job of saying, yeah the US elected the village idiot for two consequential terms, but he's a complex person nonetheless. Or, perhaps better put, Stone made the story of George W political without caricature (which would be easy to do), and compelling without praise.

    Rate it? 7/10

Just finished watching Capote. Excellent. Better than Big Fish (which I liked very much) but not as good as Mystic River. Kill Bill I & II, I would rate above Reservoir Dogs but below Jackie Brown and much below Pulp Fiction.

He certainly did. Shame, really. Ooh I love National Velvet. It was my favourite when I was younger.

Just watched Romeo and Juliet a la Baz Luhrman. <3

I haven't seen that film in ages so I should not have judged. I will have to look at it again to see just how bad his acting is . Our library owns the DVD I believe.

Now if that a minus 3, I entirely agree! I hated this version. The Zefferelli version is sooo much better.

    Not a -3. It's a heart. I love this version.

I haven't seen the other one you mention though.

    Rented movies last night . . .

Good Time Max: an intriguing plot, very artistic, fascinating ways of directing and camera-shots. Though I loved the beginning and end, I did not feel too crazy about the progress of the film, and some parts of the plot seemed a bit vague and cliché in its only 79 minutes of length. Overall, I loved it.
    Rating: 7/10.

Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson: a fantastic documentary of Thompson, narrated by Johnny Depp, and featuring his personal friends, family, and co-workers, plus amazing footage of the author himself. Beautifully pieced together, but could have had a more linear progress, making a documentary easier to follow.
    Rating: 9/10.
