Little Women, 'cause it's the only LMA I've read![]()
I enjoy talking to you. Your mind appeals to me.
It resembles my own mind except that you happen to be insane.
A Long Fatal Love Chase
Absolutely her best book. I loved it.
Oh I read A Long Fatal Love Chase too
Hey Ive never heard of that one, and I thought Id read them all thanks LadyWent, now I know what book Ill be reading by her for the litnet challenge.
I cant say I have a favourite, its been at least 6 years or mor propably closer to 8 or 9 since i last read anything much by her, I think I used to love the old fashioned girl and eight cousins the most, although it would probably be eaiser to say that the only one I didnt fall madly in love with was behind a woman's mask and work, although work was really a good book, I guess the shock of the difference is why I dint like it, but really thinking about it it is one of the ones that has stuck with me the most although I can still quote passages out of most of them if I thought hard enough.![]()

I believe that you are only the second person that I have "met" that has actually read this one.
I actually never had heard of it before either. I came about it one day while wandering through a bookstore. I wasn't even looking for anything in particular. I wasn't even looking for anything by her. I just happened to pass that section, and the name of the book AND who wrote it stood out to me. I have always preferred her suspense stories more, anyway. There were so many things that I really got a kick out of with this one. Especially Phillip Tempest. When you read it, you will find out who he is.Good luck with it! I hope that you will like it, too. I am glad to help with the challenge. After all, won't it be a lot more fun to read something "new" rather than something that has been read before?

Little Women, defintetely. Becuase of the ending Jo finally meets the right man in Friedrich.
My lifelong love affair with books and reading continues unaffected by automation, computers, and all other forms of the twentieth-century gadgetry.

Actually, I know only one book of LMA, and it's Little Women (and of course Good Wives). But it has always been one of my favorite books ever. I read it as a child, in French, then I re read it several times. And finally, I read it in English, and it is still one of my favorite books.

I think I agree with the original poster in choosing "Rose in Bloom", the first book by LMA I ever read. Althought she creates wonderful heroes, I think that Mac is her very best. Rose, I'll admit, is hardly a remarkable heroine. Her Uncle is a joy to read of, so maybe "Eight Cousins" is my favorite. I learned so much from it. I also am one of eight cousins, and I'm Scottish, and proud of it, like the Campbell clan.
I do love "Little Women" and all the sequels. Especially the character Nan in "Little Men" and "Jo's Boys". And Jo, of course. Though I still haven't decided if I love Teddy or the Professor more.
How come nobody's mentioned "An Old Fashioned Girl"? It's so touching that (SPOILERS) Polly loves Tom when she can't have him! Usually LMA makes the men fall in love first, it seems.
Eight cousins and Rose in bloom are my favourites. I love all the books by her that I have read, yet they stand out most to me. I want to pull the characters out of the book in to real life (although that would be unfair to them because life is so horrible and mechanical and technology controlled now). So better still would be to jump in to the book and become someone there!
Mac is my LMA hero definitely, well, hero from any book really.
My favourite, so far, has to be Rose In Bloom. I've only just finished reading it (on this website, so thank you for that) and it's the one that I felt the most wrapped up in. Like other people who've named it as their favourite, I too thought that Mac was the best character by far.
