A Woman Under the Influence *****

I've rarely felt so drained of all emotion after watching a movie. The characters are like real people, Peter Falk and especially Gena Rowlands bring them to life and it hurts you so much as you watch them trying simply to be good to each other. If this doesn't make you cry, you probably shouldn't be allowed to live.

    Nostalghia ****

Another great film by one of the best directors ever. The imagery is beautiful and some shots will stay in your mind for a long time.

    Waltz With Bashir

A wonderful animated film about a filmmaker Ari who can't seem to remember any memories of his time during the first Lebanon War. Intrigued by this problem, he decides to engage in various meetings with old friends and comrades during said war. With these meetings Ari starts to remember the truth about the war, his memory, and himself.

A impressive film about the reality of war as well as an interesting meditation on memory.

The film won a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film and is nominated for an Oscar.

Powerful and Surreal with a great score by Max Richter

I saw The Changeling and enjoyed it very much. 9/10

The movie was based on a true story, and what a gripping story it is.

The acting was very good, on all sides.

I thought that those in charge of makeup/wardrobe, etc., did a stellar job of capturing the late 20's and into the 1930's. Angelina's hair was awesome.

I'd recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it.

    Harold & Maude

4/5 I love this movie. I don't know why. will somebody tell me what it is about a 17 year old morbid boy and an eccentric 80 yr old woman who share a love affair??? It just warms me to mah toes.....Seriously though, I love the way the story is structured throughout and the time it is set in of course and Cat Stevens sits well with me.

Delta, I love this movie, too. I even invested in a copy recently. I think I could watch it over and over again. Crazy story, but somehow it works extraordinary well. It 'warms me to mah toes', too. I love the soundtrack music by Cat Stevens; fits in perfectly to the time, to the mood of the film. This film has both tender and hilarious moments; one minute you are laughing and then you feel dead serious. I recall that I had not realised on first viewing that she had a Nazi tatoo number on her arm; thus being a survivor. The acting was great, too. Ruth Gorden was amazing. She has such an inner beauty, doen't she. She is ageless in this film. This movie has become a cult classic; I am glad of that. It is truly wonderful!

Kizzo, I want to see this film so badly. I am glad you are giving it such a high rating and your comments make me want to see it even more so now. Thanks for writing this up and recommending this film.

Yep, Cassavetes. I've only just discovered him as a director and he lives up to his rep. Shadows is good and Faces is as brilliant as A Woman Under the Influence. Have you seen anything else by him?

Have you seen anything good recently? I'm either going to see Slumdog Millionaire or Three Monkeys this week.
