Lily, I just got your friend's request and accepted it. Hey, you trying to convert me?

.....now I am just kiddding.....Why weren't you on my list earlier? You and I have been here forever. We are regulars!!!

You do make me laugh - 'feeling crushy lately'...? haha...oh to be a teen again......that was like a zillion light years ago for me....

I took that screencap! He's just playing a character who's waking up in a movie. He is pretty good lookin' I think, plus he likes a lotta awesome stuff, like I said.
Well, he wakes up kind of strange with some odd expression; it that a yawn? I guess you have to know him to love him.

MAYBE! Even if they aren't that good looking, if they are awesome that makes them a million times more hotter. I do have a thing for men in glasses, though.
Well, I agree with this. I usually go for the brainy guys and I like them in glasses a lot, but it really doesn't hurt if they actually are pretty cute or handsome physically either. I don't mind flaws at all - that makes them human; I don't even mind moles or warts on their face, if the face is put together nicely and appealing. For instance, I really like Ciaran Hinds, the actor and I don't think one could actually say he is handsome, but he does have appeal. Now my favorite actor is getting older, so one might say - humm....cuter when younger, but now that I have obsessed on him long enough, I seem to not notice he is aging. I still find him very attractive, although sometimes I don't like his hairdo...ahaha...I am picky.

Yeah, I like-a dem rockstars. Probably part of being a teenage girl. I WISH I was in a band!
What are dem rockstars...see I may actually be getting an education talking to you. All teenage girls want to be in a band. Oh I can think of a band member I really think is cute but in his own way - David Gilmore of Pink Floyd - ever hear of him or them? haha...just kidding again...surely you have although the band has broken up and he is getting old, too, like me....

    Not necessarily!

I like older men. A lot. Actually. I go for teachers n rock stars.
Oh then maybe you would like some I like. Who do you like in the older man range? Just curious. We may be able to find someone in common. Now let me see, can they be actors who play teachers? I will have to think on this awhile.

Odd how my type face keeps mimicing your type face (above) - sort of spacey - you beaming me up or something?

I thought so, too, but apparently not. Ah well!

You do make me laugh - 'feeling crushy lately'...? haha...oh to be a teen again......that was like a zillion light years ago for me....
Chyeah, I love being a teeanger. For the most part. You mean adults can't feel crushy? You just have go *squeal squeal squeal* a lot and "tee hee" and such.

Here's what I do to the Hives: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrHv1EJ6F2Y (One of my favorite songs by them) I love playing air guitar...broom guitar's even better.

I dunno! XD He is pretty cool, though.

Yep! Aw, he ain't too bad lookin'! I think part of it is knowing who they are. Like how I like Rusty. Hahahaha.

I used to be REALLY picky but since I've actually had a couple boyfriends that pickiness seems to have gone away. Though I can't say I don't have preferences, of course.

If you haven't noticed I like to use slang when I type. "Dem"="them". unless you mean like...what other rockstars I like. Like I said, I like DEVO, too...I added some stuff in that post later that you may not have noticed. Like about tastes and stuff.

Oh, yeah, you mentioned him before! Yes, I know of Pink Floyd-one of my best friends loves them. Trust me, I listen to old music for the most part! Just not Pink Floyd. Haven't heard much of them.

I know! It's part of being a teenager, I think. I listen to a really good band and I think, "MAN! I wish I could do that!" I want to play the guitar, but my hands are way too small. Dad says if I get all A's this semester he'll buy me a ukulele. Do you think anybody would listen to a rock band that has a ukulele player in it?

It's really bad, but I think guys in their 50's are in their prime. Maybe it's because I'm kinda obsessed with the time period when they were in their youth. I dunno about the actors as teachers thing. Never really thought about that. I loooooove teachers, though. S'hot. When I grow up, I wanna be a teacher in a rock band. That'd be awesome. My English teacher does that! I don't have a crush on him, though...

I went in their and magically changed your post because I am a trickster like that.

Sorry I did not ask you before this. I have quite a list now of friends in there which I feel honored about. I love people and I love meeting new people as well. Just recently I meet 4 or 5 new people who like the same things I do. I am quite happy right now.

Chyeah, I love being a teeanger. For the most part. You mean adults can't feel crushy? You just have go *squeal squeal squeal* a lot and "tee hee" and such.
That is great to hear! I grew up in the 60's since I am 58, you know the time of the Beatles and the introduction of Rock and Roll music. It was a great time actually...so many of the big groups came from my era. Whether I really enjoyed being a teenager is questionable actually. I was painfully shy and the only artist in my school; well practically so...a few others tended towards liking art but the school considered me their artist...."oh heavy burden." I imagine I was an overly sensitive teen and it was sometimes a painful time for me, other times I was totally carefree and happy. I had a good family and so homelife was fine, asside from a few problems. I really branched out and blossomed post high school, when I attended a more progressive art school/college in Philadelphia. Those years were my favorite. I had such a great life back then. It was now the 70's and a there was a certain aura about those 10 yrs, things really changed and lots of rock bands came and went...it was great. I loved rock when I was younger and still do. I just bought a Boston CD but that is not heavy rock, of course. I liked more soft-rock or orchestrated rock. I still have a huge vinyl record collection, tapes and an equally huge CD collection. I eyeing up those turntables that can connect to your USB port and you can turn you albums into audio files on the computer. If I had one, you can't imagine how much music I would have assess to. It would be great! well...this is my dream...maybe I will get enough Christmas money to pull it off.

Here's what I do to the Hives: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrHv1EJ6F2Y (One of my favorite songs by them) I love playing air guitar...broom guitar's even better.
Thanks, I will have to listen to them today. Now, can't promise I will like them but I will promise to give them a try. I am always open to new things and new music. In fact my son downloaded his Ipod onto my computer and I still have the files even after getting a newer computer. I did delete some recently I absolutely did not like, but I had kept it for a long time, trying to give it a chance. I actually have some Pink Floyd on there - Sean and I have always had a mutual admiration for that band and I have a real thing for David Gilmore, he just does it for me...or I wish he could...haha Something about him is sexy. My son has some alternative on there that I really like a lot. I liked alternative when it first came along. I like Depeche Mode...that is the name, isn't it? I think I have some Mono too, unless I deleted it. I will check it out and get back to you.

I dunno! XD He is pretty cool, though.
Well maybe it is the photo and maybe he is cuter than that on videos. I will check him out. Is his hair blond or brown now?

Yep! Aw, he ain't too bad lookin'! I think part of it is knowing who they are. Like how I like Rusty. Hahahaha.
Who Ciaran Hinds? I like his roles and the way he acts or his manerisms. Manerisms usually determine if I am attracted to a guy or actor. I like them to be strong but then a little vulnerable and sometimes just sort of cute and human. Then I do feel I know them and they real man under the acting facade and this turns me onto them. I feel that way about Kenneth Branagh. He is so cute and cool to see informally in interviews or when he is at a film opening. I just want to hug him. He also speaks directly to the person and is always so courteous and nice to them. These good fine qualities are what make him so appealing. He is cool - he can be funny and crazy and oh so serious. I like men with a combo and multifaceted persona. This is why I love his work and admire it. He can be a villain, he is great at that such as in "Othello" or a real softy under a rough exterior...in "To Kill Your Neighbor's Dog"....a truly wonderful heartfelt film, funny as hell, too.

I used to be REALLY picky but since I've actually had a couple boyfriends that pickiness seems to have gone away. Though I can't say I don't have preferences, of course.
I did and I didn't. I actually did like this one guy I dated so much and he had bad skin - but I felt he was still attractive and I felt bad about his skin being scared. I sort of loved him in my own way. I love Brian Adams and he has pockmarked skin - a shame. I still find him so sexy, even now that he is older.
I can tell you that as I get older I am way less picky than when I was younger. I think now I can see the whole package better and the interior is more important anyway. If the person has a good character that is really what matters most to me. I used to dislike bald but now I actually sometimes find it attractive or at least I can deal with it and not worry whether it detracts. I knew this really cute guy who was bald and he was so appealing; unfortunately he was gay. He as so nice to me and I actually think he was somewhat attracted to me as well; we used to kid around a lot; he was great fun. I could have fallen for him.

If you haven't noticed I like to use slang when I type. "Dem"="them". unless you mean like...what other rockstars I like. Like I said, I like DEVO, too...I added some stuff in that post later that you may not have noticed. Like about tastes and stuff.
No problem with slang in here but in some of the other more serious novel, short story, play discussion threads it is sometimes a problem because, who has the time to interpret? It is appropriate here in the fun thread. I didn't notice which other rockstars you liked....are there any from my generations or the 70's to thru 80's?...I might be talking about your grandmother's music or your mom's.

Oh, yeah, you mentioned him before! Yes, I know of Pink Floyd-one of my best friends loves them. Trust me, I listen to old music for the most part! Just not Pink Floyd. Haven't heard much of them.
Try Pink Floyd - they are timeless! Great stuff - see them on Youtube. I am sure there are tons of videos on there of their fantastic concerts. They helped invent rock! What other old stuff do you listen to? You have me curious now.

So funny about the ukulele. Someone posted a link to a ukulele band - think they are from the UK. I will find the link and post it - don't think though it will be your cup of tea. It wasn't even mine, but still you may laugh at the uks playing together - might get inspired, too.

It's really bad, but I think guys in their 50's are in their prime. Maybe it's because I'm kinda obsessed with the time period when they were in their youth. Aha - see you admit it - 50 yr olds are in their prime. Well, I think 40 is more so but that is just me and I am now heading for 60, but I would have no qualms about seeing someone 10 yrs younger than myself. It has happened to me for years actually in the past. Funny about actors as teachers - I thought of that because when I was young - probably a teenager - I love several films with actors as teachers - "To Sir With Love" and "Goodbye Mr. Chips"....so I could relate to that idea.

I went in their and magically changed your post because I am a trickster like that.
I bet you did...I bet your did indeed!

You must have gone to a small school, then! Sorry about those problems...trust me, I got problems, too, but on the whole I am a very lucky kidd-O.

I am patiently waiting for college as much as I like high school. The people in college want to actually be in school and learn. I want to be around people who like to learn, like me.

My mom likes that orchestrated rock stuff. She likes Boston and ELO. I don't really like the music my parents listen to, but I have been far more open with music than I ever have been lately. So I've been thinking about pawing through their CDs. But I absolutely refuse to like disco...sorry mom.

Those things are awesome! We have two turntables-one works and one doesn't. I have the one that's broken in my room just to look all jazzy, but I frequently use the one out in the living room for my records. I know how to use that things better than my mom...it's kinda funny, actually. She's been trying to convert all her vinyl to CD and I'm trying to convert all my CDs to vinyl.

Thanks, I will have to listen to them today. Now, can't promise I will like them but I will promise to give them a try. I am always open to new things and new music. Aw, naw, I understand! I don't expect you to like em, hahaha.

    Depeche Mode's alright.

Cool, never heard of that band. Do tell me more about them.

Well maybe it is the photo and maybe he is cuter than that on videos. I will check him out. Is his hair blond or brown now?
Good luck with that! I'm guessing it's blond. I don't have humungo crush on him, but I do think I would get all nervous around him!

Who Ciaran Hinds? I like his roles and the way he acts or his manerisms. Manerisms usually determine if I am attracted to a guy or actor. Yep! Aw, yes, cute and human. Of course. Another okay lookin' man. Uh huh, a well-rounded personality, you mean? Always good.

I need to see Othello! I need to read it first, though. To Kill Your Neighbor's Dog? Sounds like a spoof on that Mockingbird book.

I did and I didn't. I actually did like this one guy I dated so much and he had bad skin - but I felt he was still attractive and I felt bad about his skin being scared. I like imperfections. Pockmarks sound adorable...

Interior, yes. My friend gave me a metaphor using a cupcake once. Like, if the cupcake's rotten but it's coated with icing it's still gunna be bad. Yep.

Dang! All the cute ones are gay! D: Or taken, or jerks, or SOMETHING. Geez.

    Haha, yes. I'm just crazy.

I like DEVO. I like 'em a lot. All of them. I think they're all sweet looking in their own ways.

Hahaha, yeah. I listen to mom's generation's music, for the most part.

Try Pink Floyd - they are timeless! Great stuff - see them on Youtube. I am sure there are tons of videos on there of their fantastic concerts. They helped invent rock! What other old stuff do you listen to? You have me curious now.
I shall next time I get the chance!

Hm, well define "old"...DEVO, of course, Oingo Boingo, Blondie, Adam and the Ants, Zolar X, X-Ray Spex, The Ramones, The Decayes, Alice Donut, Klaus Nomi, EBN, Dick Dale and His Del-Tones, the Beach Boys...and bits and pieces of other such related stuff. And not related. Whatever.

That's stuff that's "old" for the most part, I think. I kinda lied about the Hives being one of the "few modern bands I listen to", I should have said something more along the lines of "one of the few modern bands that is still making music. Should have been more specific. Wait, I think Alice Donut is still makin' stuff because they re-formed...whatever. (Anybody: feel free to correct me on anything...)

So funny about the ukulele. Someone posted a link to a ukulele band - think they are from the UK. I will find the link and post it - don't think though it will be your cup of tea. It wasn't even mine, but still you may laugh at the uks playing together - might get inspired, too.
    Ukuleles! They're silly.

Lily, you are so much fun to talk to; I never realised just how entertaining you could be and I do mean that in a positive way. I smile all through your posts

You must have gone to a small school, then! Sorry about those problems...trust me, I got problems, too, but on the whole I am a very lucky kidd-O.
Oh yes indeed, and with a lot of snobby girls. I was part of the 'outcasts' and so were my closest friends - sort of the nerd squad. To this day those snobby woman meet in a social group; and you want to know something - about 10 of them got pregnant in HS and married their football boyfriends, most divorced, of course. I was a 'square.' that is what they called us back then They even called me 'mod' because I wore different sort of clothes - a little out of the ordinary - back then the style was skirts and knee socks and those horrible-to-iron oxford cotton shirts. I wore scarves and cool pins and things done artistically and they did not quite know what to make of me. My grad class was only about 180 kids. I was quite happy to move onto art college in the big city...that was new and different and as you said - students wanted to be there; I know I did. I love college!

I am patiently waiting for college as much as I like high school. The people in college want to actually be in school and learn. I want to be around people who like to learn, like me.
You will adore it - more freedom and much more stimulating.

My mom likes that orchestrated rock stuff. She likes Boston and ELO. I don't really like the music my parents listen to, but I have been far more open with music than I ever have been lately. So I've been thinking about pawing through their CDs. But I absolutely refuse to like disco...sorry mom.
She does? Does she know groups like Yes, Moody Blues, Genisus, Rennaissance, Heart, Jethro Tull, etc? I could name a ton more. You might like Supertramp. I used to love them. You must ask her for me and say hi, too.

How funny about disco. That was my era in my late 20's. I guess I dug it then. Now my son informed me that my 6 month old grandbaby loves disco music. I was over their house and my son turned it on and Brooke went all wild, got up on her hands and knees and began swaying forward and backward - sort of like a hobby horse. It was a riot. The kid really has rhythm and she is only 6 months old, not even crawling yet. I must find a way to post this video on here. It is just so funny to see. Yes, you should paw around those old CD's and see if you discover some new (old) groups you would end up liking.

Do they really work? I am really thinking of buying one, now that the Christmas sales are everywhere. The prices are really low and it would plug right into my USB port. Is it hard to use the software? I would love to hear some of my old albums, which I kept pristine and used to tape to preserve them. I must have at least 400 albums - seriously - all good stuff!... well I think so....Much of it is making a comeback; I observe that all the time browsing on Amazon. I do have a regular turntable but there is always junk on top and I don't feel like being bothered with it. It is very cool though to play vinyl - it has a certain authentic sound. Lady Wentworth likes it too - she also has a turntable and lots of records. I won't part with mine - the covers art is just too cool!

Aw, naw, I understand! I don't expect you to like em, hahaha.
Sure thing. Just that they are young and not appealing to me personally. One likes different things in different stages of life.

    Depeche Mode's alright.
I don't listen to them much but sometimes I do for awhile. They wouldn't be my first choice, but their sound is good. How about U2 - do you like them? I like them a lot. I also always loved The Police and Sting. Now I think Sting is very sexy.

Cool, never heard of that band. Do tell me more about them.
I don't much about them. I think they are on his ipod listings; but not sure really...I will check.

Good luck with that! I'm guessing it's blond. I don't have humungo crush on him, but I do think I would get all nervous around him!
Haha - I would nervous in front of any celeb probably...I would just turn to mush. I was about a foot away from Annie Haslam from Renaissance once; I also saw Richard Chamberlain and other celebs but just briefly. I'd like an autograph of Kenneth Branagh; Lady Wentworth has one and I am totally jealous....

Yep! Aw, yes, cute and human. Of course. Another okay lookin' man. Uh huh, a well-rounded personality, you mean? Always good.
Which one - Ken? Lady Wentworth just started a social group on him and I found tons of cool videos on Youtube. I just have this thing for him - he is so great in that he is very smart and funny and deeply serious in roles - very well-rounded and very creative. I like creative men.

I need to see Othello! I need to read it first, though. To Kill Your Neighbor's Dog? Sounds like a spoof on that Mockingbird book.
I loved Branagh's role in 'Othello'. I like the film a lot; I even own it and watch it many times over. Some criticised it but Branagh is used to being bashed and he ignored the critic after awhile. I don't think they were actually bashing him because his performance is really good - stellar I think. I think it was a basic critisism of the casting of Desdemona and 'Othello' but I truly like that film. I like the story. Guess I go for Shakespeare's tragedies the most, and I am not a pesimist at all; rather to the contrary but tragedy fascintes me and so do thrillers. In some way 'Othello' is a thriller. Read the play first and then watch the film.

Actually, the film is very good and funny, but also very heartfelt - about this couple who are trying to have a baby, and the husband is not too keen on it and then a little girl with a slight handicap moves into their neighborhood; the husband fights it at first but the wife wants to be friendly, then then he relents and eventually becomes close to the kid; the other neighbors get a dog that barks all night. It is an everyday sort of tale with twists and turns and just a lot of fun. The guy (Ken) is trying to write a play in LA and make a comeback and he is struggling, then gets insomnia, then impotence, then hemroids. In the meantime he has befriended this weird sort of neighorhood stalker, who claims he is his same name - therefore, his sort of doppleganger, or mirror into his own persona...the night scenes in the local park are a riot. I happen to own the film and I love it. It is quite different. A few places are a little crude but one does not mind it because it is like real life.

I like imperfections. Pockmarks sound adorable...
I do too, makes the guy or the woman look more real and genuine. Like some actresses will not have perfectly straight teeth, actors too and yet it adds something real to them. They are like real people and not just actors. Ken has those mole/warts and they don't bother me at all.

Interior, yes. My friend gave me a metaphor using a cupcake once. Like, if the cupcake's rotten but it's coated with icing it's still gunna be bad. Yep.
That is a really good metaphor. I will have to remember that one. Well, they always say - you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Dang! All the cute ones are gay! D: Or taken, or jerks, or SOMETHING. Geez.
I used to say that all the time; actually I still do!

    Haha, yes. I'm just crazy.
Me too, no fun being sane...

I like DEVO. I like 'em a lot. All of them. I think they're all sweet looking in their own ways.
I will have to check them out. You check out my music and I will check out yours. I don't much about Devo really.

Hahaha, yeah. I listen to mom's generation's music, for the most part.
Lots your generation like The Eagles and groups like that or The Beatles, etc. I grew up with those - still love Hotel California and many of The Beatles songs, too.

I shall next time I get the chance!
Oh good, Pink Floyd are pretty cool and they are great in concert. I happen to love their awesome film "The Wall" - soundtrack is great, too.

Whatever.
Oh gosh I don't know - maybe the 70's music - I do recognise Blondie in that batch and Adam and he Ants, and the Beach Boys. I just bought a Boston CD - how funny you did mention your mother likes them. I like them and I like Toto and Survivor and Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Jefferson Airplane, Rolling Stones, Brian Adams, Dep Lepard, and many many more - too late to think them all up now. There was a time my son and I liked similar music but then he progressed and I stayed with what I liked...that is sort of what happens or older people go onto new genres like Celtic or New Age, stuff like that for relaxing.

Oh, you know more than me about those bands. I am in the Dark Ages when it comes to newer bands.

    Ukuleles! They're silly.

I think they are so silly, too...still would be fun to play around with one....go for it.

Sometimes I feel like a reverse pedophile. >.<
    You are a riot!

I'll have to look those up!
Ok, if you need any links to explore new music let me know. I am good at finding this obsure stuff.

    >.> <.<
what is this - space code? haha.....Beam me up Scotty!

You realised that we totally hijacked this Celeb thread....haha... where did everyone go anyway?

Wait, did you just add that PS guy - he is kind of cute in an off-beat way - love that expression.

Hi Englishrose. Yay, good to see another Brummie. I didn't realise Alex Pettyfer was from Stormbreaker. That's the Alex Rider character isn't it, which I'm always promoting to my kids at school, (although I haven't watched the film )? I'm sure he's lovely, although I've had 3 of them tell me in the last few weeks that the "Cherub" series from Robert Muchamore is much better. Perhaps they'll make them into films soon. He looks quite good though .

    Hi Wessexgirl!
Yes the film is based on the stormbreaker books, with Alex Rider as the main character. I haven't read any of the books though i have just watched the film. Its not as good as it could be to be honest though
I havent read the "Cherub" series books either, ill have to look out for them. Are they any good?

If I am dealing with actors as a category, I've always loved Paul Newman, why, I can't really say, but I've always been turned on by good ole boys with the devil in them, which includes the young Al Pacino of The Godfather, and the current, if aging, Kevin Spacey.

In music I've only ever been a groupie for Elton John, which might or might not be farcical, depending on one's point of view, but his 1970's output with Taupin, is, in my estimation, to die for.

Is that the guy from The Crying Game and Stargate? If it's the same guy then I agree - I thought he was nice to look at in Stargate. He's very pretty. nice to look at.

Dude, it's hip to be square. Besides, we're through being cool, friend.

    Sucks to be those girls.

You will adore it - more freedom and much more stimulating.
That's what I hear. I'm sure I will love it.

She does? Does she know groups like Yes, Moody Blues, Genisus, Rennaissance, Heart, Jethro Tull, etc? I could name a ton more. You might like Supertramp. I used to love them. You must ask her for me and say hi, too.
I know she likes Heart. She tells me she knows of those other people from her college days, but she said she'd have to listen to them. Aha, yes, Supertramp. She and my friend who likes Pink Floyd were talking about them. "Dreeeeamer". I know that song.

    Haha, yes, she loves disco.

That's so adorable! I wanna see a video of that! Please do make one. Brooke is a lovely name, by the way.

I will. I need to stop being a music snob, I think. Though I must say even though I do like some jazz that my dad owns, I like my own music a bit better. Nothing will ever top DEVO in my book, I think,

Oh I'm sure they do-I don't own one. Ooooo! Well, I like some scratching on vinyl. It sounds so good. And one of my favorite smells in the world is old vinyl. Sometimes I just go up to my vinyl collection and smell it like a weirdo. Whatever. Like I said, I LOVE the sounds vinyl. Delicious.

Sure thing. Just that they are young and not appealing to me personally. One likes different things in different stages of life.
Yes, yes. I like really fast music. Probably because I am young. So I see your point.

I don't listen to them much but sometimes I do for awhile. They wouldn't be my first choice, but their sound is good. How about U2 - do you like them? I like them a lot. I also always loved The Police and Sting. Now I think Sting is very sexy.
Never heard much of U2, I think once...

The only Police song I have on my iPod is, you guessed it, "Don't Stand So Close To Me". :|

I don't much about them. I think they are on his ipod listings; but not sure really...I will check.
    Cool.

I've seen a few, but I freaked when I met Ray Bradbury. I also skipped out on a DEVO concert a while back partly because I knew I would be bawling my eyes out the whole time. I need to get strong to go see them.

    I love Lady Wentworth!

Which one - Ken? Lady Wentworth just started a social group on him and I found tons of cool videos on Youtube. I just have this thing for him - he is so great in that he is very smart and funny and deeply serious in roles - very well-rounded and very creative. I like creative men.
Neat-O. Oooo, creative. I like those types, too.

Oh, yes, I see your point. I'm not quite a pessimist either ("realistic optimist", I call myself) but tragedies are good.

I will. I always read the book first. (Except that one time when I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey. Still haven't read that book. D

Ooo, sounds quirky! Doppelgangers! I love those. So interesting. IT's always fun to imagine your own doppelganger...

Nah, I don't get offended by "crude" stuff if that's what you're worried about. Nothing ever really offends me.

I do too, makes the guy or the woman look more real and genuine. Like some actresses will not have perfectly straight teeth, actors too and yet it adds something real to them. They are like real people and not just actors. Ken has those mole/warts and they don't bother me at all.
I love crooked teeth on men! So adorable.

That is a really good metaphor. I will have to remember that one. Well, they always say - you can't judge a book by it's cover.
    Ain't it?

I used to say that all the time; actually I still do!
    Well, it's TRUE!

Me too, no fun being sane...
    Definitely not.

I will have to check them out. You check out my music and I will check out yours. I don't much about Devo really.
Indeed, I shall, once my back gets all better and I am again able to sit a computer comfortably for longer period of time. I will check out all the stuff you mentioned. Ah, internet.

Very close to my heart, very close. I love them. They literally saved me. Most people either hate them or just know "Whip It", which is completely overrated if you ask me. (But I still enjoy the song!) Be careful on judging them, because what they did in the early 70's is completely different then their later stuff...AND BEYOND!

Here's all the other music I listen to: http://www.last.fm/user/LilyAdams

Man or Astro-man? is a close second. If it weren't for DEVO, (a sad, sad world indeed) they would totally be my favorite band. I guarantee you will hear nothing like them ever. (Well, they were inspired by Dick Dale, but aside from that!) I mean, have you ever heard of Space Nerd Punk Surf Rock?

I guess I do listen to more newer music than I thought. Whatever. It's more like I listen to a bunch of stuff nobody's ever heard of/cares about.

Lots your generation like The Eagles and groups like that or The Beatles, etc. I grew up with those - still love Hotel California and many of The Beatles songs, too.
Yes, they do. The Beatles are really popular among the kidd-Os these days.

Oh good, Pink Floyd are pretty cool and they are great in concert. I happen to love their awesome film "The Wall" - soundtrack is great, too.
Yep, The Wall! My friend (mentioned three times now, hahaha) played me that soundtrack before but it was over the phone so I couldn't hear much.

Oh gosh I don't know - maybe the 70's music - I do recognise Blondie in that batch and Adam and he Ants, and the Beach Boys. I just bought a Boston CD - how funny you did mention your mother likes them. There was a time my son and I liked similar music but then he progressed and I stayed with what I liked...that is sort of what happens or older people go onto new genres like Celtic or New Age, stuff like that for relaxing.
Yeah, The Beach Boys are kind of a guilty pleasure. They're not really surf music...

Those are all so classic. But I haven't listened to them. XD I listen to too much underground stuff.

Oh, you know more than me about those bands. I am in the Dark Ages when it comes to newer bands.
Trust me, I don't know much either. The popular ones, at least. Like I said, too much underground/kooky stuff that nobody listens to.

I think they are so silly, too...still would be fun to play around with one....go for it.
    I will. I need those straight A's.

    You are a riot!
    Thanks?

Ok, if you need any links to explore new music let me know. I am good at finding this obsure stuff.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I think I will once my back gets better like I said. (I like saying "like I said", don't I? XP Sorry.)

I think they are, (I haven't read them ) but if you like adventure, they're in the same mode as Alex Rider, with children/teens as agents/spies. There's about 10 of them at the moment and they do get really good reviews.

You are good late night entertainment/escapism for me.

Dude, it's hip to be square. Besides, we're through being cool, friend.[
    quote]

It was not so when I was young but now it is. This is why I liked certain lyrics from some songs about deviating from the norm...some of Supertramps definitely do state that and there was one group I liked a lot that applauded the square or geek but I can't think of their names now...senility, you know, either that or I have not woken up quite yet (I am a nite owl). I think you would have liked the off-beat group. When it comes to me I will let you know.

    Sucks to be those girls.
Yeah, they are a bit strange to this day; I see some since I live in my hometown and they are nice to a point but then some are truly odd, like they still have one foot in adolescence. I hung with the moderate crowd, I guess they considered us squares. This is why I don't go to any more class reunions. They are not fun anymore - just the 'in' group showing off and bragging about their accomplishments or countless trips/vacations around the world. They are real snobs!

That's what I hear. I'm sure I will love it.
I know she likes Heart. She tells me she knows of those other people from her college days, but she said she'd have to listen to them. Aha, yes, Supertramp. She and my friend who likes Pink Floyd were talking about them. "Dreeeeamer". I know that song.
Cool, I had been thing of buying a Heart album recently. I saw a Greatest Hits one out and it was only $6.99 but wasn't sure it had the songs I truly love on there. I love the older album - 'Dreamboat Annie' and another older one - the name fails me presently - but I believe Baracuda is on that one and 'Mistral Wind', which is one of my favorite cuts of theirs. I just love Mistral Wind. Maybe I can find it on Youtube; if so I will send you the link on your profile page.

Haha, yes, she loves disco. Well, she is probably from that era. Actually, I was from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, then later, in my 20's there was the other big rock groups, people still like to this day....ah...then came disco. I recall that more in my early 30's. All I recall is going to bars to socialise with my friends and dance and it was a good beat to dance to. I attempted to disco dance but that was a disaster; however, I my friend and I did have a lot of fun trying to pull it off, and we still reminese about some funny times we had.

Yes, I know the song 'Dreamer' well; I have (on vinyl) about 4 of their albums - they are good. I bought 'In the Quietest Moments' recently on CD because that is really my favorite album and that may be my favorite song; no doubt that one is too tame for you though.....haha

That's so adorable! I wanna see a video of that! Please do make one. Brooke is a lovely name, by the way.
I will try to post it in your email (PM box)...see if it works that way.

I will. I need to stop being a music snob, I think. Though I must say even though I do like some jazz that my dad owns, I like my own music a bit better. Nothing will ever top DEVO in my book, I think,
Alllllways good to be open to alllll types of music, seriously it is...you just might surprise yourself. I did! I like everything now or at least try it, even Opera which I had never considered when I was younger (you are probably cringing now). Well, only thing I just can't tolerate (at my age) is rap and bee-bop.

Delicious.
That is what my neighbor says about his vinyl collection - he loves that little authentic scratching sound - how funny. This is really funny - one day this song came into my head from out of the blue and I was dying to hear it. I knew I had the album on vinyl but it was not in my good cabinet which holds the albums upright and keeps them pristine, so I went into a closet and found it and when I put it onto the turntable the whole record was so warped - that is what happens to vinyl if you don't store it right. I though - well give it a whirl anyway. I think it did play somewhat and then played weird. Needless to say, I ended up buying the CD to replace it.

Smell it? well never thought of doing that but hey, 'whatever turns you on' - expression from the disco years, I believe. I do love the smell of Crayola Crayons since that transports me back to my childhood and those memories - I always wanted the box with 64! Think they have even more colors added now - like sparkly ones.

Yes, yes. I like really fast music. Probably because I am young. So I see your point.
I like it only if in the mood and maybe if dancing; then slow is just no good, dancing one needs beat and wilder stuff, faster. I love to dance.

Never heard much of U2, I think once...
Get out of here, really? They are from Ireland and a big name band. I do like them. Now they are more rock.

The only Police song I have on my iPod is, you guessed it, "Don't Stand So Close To Me". :|
At one time I played their music constantly. I love Sting and some of the early videos are just great. I love the black and white one with "Every Breath You Take". I will have to locate it for you online.

Cool. Not sure who I was referring to here.

I've seen a few, but I freaked when I met Ray Bradbury. I also skipped out on a DEVO concert a while back partly because I knew I would be bawling my eyes out the whole time. I need to get strong to go see them.
Now that is cool, you meet him, wow. Oh you are funny - you would cry at seeing Devo. Gosh you are a groupie. Do they have that profound an effect on your?

    I love Lady Wentworth!
She is nice and fun, totally.

Neat-O. Oooo, creative. I like those types, too.
The group is going well, but LW is sick today, so we will probably wait for her now. Stop in and read it if you have a chance.

Oh, yes, I see your point. I'm not quite a pessimist either ("realistic optimist", I call myself) but tragedies are good.
Seems the optimists are the ones who like the tragedies in literature and in film. I guess we are somewhat serious minded and 'realistic.'

I will. I always read the book first. (Except that one time when I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey. Still haven't read that book. D
I have the soundtrack to that film; haven't listened to it for awhile now. I have to be in the mood. I should watch the film again; my library most likely owns it. I liked that film when it came out - quite different. Didn't even know there was a book.

Ooo, sounds quirky! Doppelgangers! I love those. So interesting. IT's always fun to imagine your own doppelganger...
He doppleganger guy is just a riot - played by Jared Harris - Richard Harris's son. He is an actor I greatly admire. He pulls this homeless quirky guy off so well in the film. At one moment in the film he says to Peter (Branagh) " you know you're sort of a cumugeon"...haaha - there is a good word too. I ran to the dictionary to look it up. There are so many funny lines in the film. It is quirky with a lot of heart underneath. I just love that film. I heard in Japan it is a huge hit; isn't that strange...moreso than the US. I think the title threw people off because the main theme of the story is not 'how to kill a neighbor's dog'.

Nah, I don't get offended by "crude" stuff if that's what you're worried about. Nothing ever really offends me.
Even though a little bit crude it is mostly just life like, everyday stuff and I can tell you a few of the cruder scenes will have you laughing hysterically. One is his exam at the doctors for his problems of over sized prostrate and hemroids..they don't really show much of anything but you can imagine it quite well and the lines just crack you up. Ken is so vulnerable in the scene too that you have to love him. We have all been through some doctor embarrassing moments and this one makes it so real and yet so humorous.

I love crooked teeth on men! So adorable.
I don't love them but if they have a gap I actually do think it sort of sexy - weird isn't it. I just don't really think they need to have those cosmetically perfect teeth to look handsome - clean yes, but a bit off, that is fine with me...makes them seem way more human, doesn't it. Who can relate to guys that are totally flawless?

    Ain't it?
Yes, in American slang - ain't it - yes indeed the cupcake analogy was great!

    Well, it's TRUE!
    It is!

    Definitely not.
yep! I found it to be so, at least most times.

Indeed, I shall, once my back gets all better and I am again able to sit a computer comfortably for longer period of time. I will check out all the stuff you mentioned. Ah, internet.
Hope that gets better soon; what did you do to it anyway? Well, you may not like it all but maybe some. I will try and find some old quirkier stuff you might be able to relate to or appreciate, at least.

Oh, I do recall "Whip it"...in fact they still always play that at weddings. How funny. I will look them up later on tonight. I may like some of their songs - maybe more the early ones. Isn't "Whip it" more a pop song? Glad thought to know they kept together and progressed with the times. Sigh of a good band, when they can move onto new fresh stuff.

Here's all the other music I listen to: http://www.last.fm/user/LilyAdams
Sorry too late last night and now too busy; I will definitely check that out later tonight. Thanks for the link.

I don't Asto-man. I will look that up, too. Don't know Dick Dale either - who is he? Never heard of 'Space Nerd Punk Surf Rock' - are we still on planet earth?

I guess I do listen to more newer music than I thought. Whatever. It's more like I listen to a bunch of stuff nobody's ever heard of/cares about.
I think so; told you I was in back in the Dark Ages of music or old peoples tunes...haha

Yes, they do. The Beatles are really popular among the kidd-Os these days.
Yes, others your age have told me; even asked if I liked the groups...well, of course I did...I grew up with those groups!

Yep, The Wall! My friend (mentioned three times now, hahaha) played me that soundtrack before but it was over the phone so I couldn't hear much.
The movie "The Wall" is great - incredible. I love it! I also love the soundtrack album. I have it here on file and on CD's.

Yeah, The Beach Boys are kind of a guilty pleasure. They're not really surf music...
I used to like them a lot and probably still would enjoy their music. I think of them more pop too than rock. They were unique and they were always good.
Don't feel guilty silly! You have broad interests - so embrace that fact.

Those are all so classic. But I haven't listened to them. XD I listen to too much underground stuff.
I used to listen to underground stuff too but not now for a long time....just radio it was and probably tamer back then, than now.

Trust me, I don't know much either. The popular ones, at least. Like I said, too much underground/kooky stuff that nobody listens to.
    Maybe. I do trust you.

    I will. I need those straight A's.
    Good girl!

    Thanks?
    Welcome!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I think I will once my back gets better like I said. (I like saying "like I said", don't I? XP Sorry.)
Welcome, welcome, welcome! I say "like I said" all the time too...haha. Don't be one bit sorry. I like it, like I said.

Meh. Is that Meh or Men!????zzzbbb^&%#@!

Thanks for these links. Later will check them all out - just wait for me to get back to you. I will give them all a whirl.

Adorable and hilarious! And creative! I love the episodes where he has a goatee (there's a couple...) and he has beautiful blue eyes! *le sigh*[/FONT]
Love blue eyes! love blonds, too...and redheads - lighter complexion's I guess now I am drawn to....but blue blue eyes are just so alluring...love them!

    And whether pigs have wings."
