wessexgirl, I was checking up on Wallander, but I can only find the DVD on Amazon UK site. There are ones on Amazon but they are from European countries. Did they do this series in other countries a few years back. It seems a bit confusing to me. I also cannot find a listing for the program on the BBC station here; maybe it will have to air there before we get it here - what do you think? I can't then see why it is already being offered on DVD if it did not air yet. Do you know why that would be. The DVD apparently only included 3 episodes of the show. I take it is it an hour length show, right?

They start on Sunday, but they often have the dvds advertised on the internet before they're shown on tv, but I don't think they can sell them until the programmes have been screened. I think you can pre-order here, but I don't know about in the US. The Beeb is just a familiar term for the BBC . I believe that the books have been televised in their native Sweden, so you probably saw dvd versions of them. I think Guinevere has seen them, (perhaps another groupie for the club ). I would think you will get the series in the US after us, if you tend to get other Beeb productions. I will try to post on the Shakespeare thread you mentioned when I have a minute, (hectic day at school + tiredness + feeling a bit under the weather, hope I'm not getting the flu ). A comforting wallow on the sofa with a good historical drama tonight I think, if I can manage to stay awake!

wessexgirl, are you referring to "The Proposition"? I could only get that film on VHS tape; if I could copy it I could send it to you but my copy is not that wonderful really. I need to find the DVD version myself, also; I keep looking and hoping. I own all these films that the cuts were taken from; the guy who made this video did a really great job of it, very professional and the song by Bowie is an older song I immediately recognised and responded to. I love his spin on it and I have always loved that song. So enjoy the video! Someone in the commentary section, has a list of which movies they are from. Apparently, the guy made this for his mom, so sweet. I am hoping to download some software so I can copy this video - it is too good to let get away.

Oh good, only the three episodes. I saw that listed on the Amazon UK site. I never bought from them before but Lady Wentworth said she has, and I could do so, since I have a Region 2 player. I feel sure it will become available here soon, so probably I can wait awhile. I really want to buy "The Magic Flute", when I find that reasonable....maybe "Sleuth", too. Have you seen it yet; if so, what was your opinion?

I went on the 'Kenneth Branagh Compendium' last night, and I found so much out about 'Wanlander'. There is a very good trailer there; I must say, now I am captivated. It looked like an A1 performance from Mr. KB. I can't wait to see it now.

Note that on the Compendium there are other very good trailers also, that and the MGM site are so interesting.

The Radio Times is the premier listings magazine in the UK, which was just the Beeb's mag at one time, but now, with the plethora of mags available it 's a guide for all of the channels, but it is the Beeb's organ, so to speak! It is quite a prestigious thing to get the cover, so they obviously are promoting a quality programme. There is an interview inside, which I will try to get for you.

I just looked at it - thanks; if you can get me the article, I will copy it to my files...it may actually be the same one I found on the Kenneth Branagh Compendium, which I did copy right off. I imagine they will add it into Ken's many cover photos in the photo files in the KB Compendium. They have some great videos of the series in there. This really whetted my appetite to see it. Hey, wessexgirl, have you ever seen B playing in Ibsen's "Ghosts" play - opposite Dame Judi Dench? I caught clips of it on Youtube and I have some great new information and links. Lady Wentworth had great ideas on starting the social group - she may even begin it tonight. For me I won't be on much in the day (day here now) because I will be cooking a small turkey today just for my mother and I; I have to start that soon. I will check back later tonight and see if she did start it or maybe it will be started tomorrow sometime. We will have a really good time in there chit-chatting about you-know-who, our mutal obsession!

Last night I ordered "The Magic Flute" from the Amazon UK site. Then I look in my mail and see that I accidentally ordered 2! I can't believe it. The price was not bad though and the reviews over there were great - I think they rated it nearly all the stars. 3 people wrote great assessments of the film - say it is luminous and brilliant and so enjoyable. I know I will love it since I have seen many cuts of it on Youtube. Can't wait and probably someone here will want the second one I bought accidently. I hope my converion to the US dollar was correct.

I hope to order more things from that site and I did put Wallander into my wish list. It just might be my Christmas gift from my sister - she is giving money so I might order it soon. Can't wait to see it and I must own it of course.

Geez, wessexgirl, I think I will have to move over to the UK soon. I love going on the Amazon UK site....iti s such fun to read the reviews and the site has all the kinds of films, TV shows that I adore....mostly British, Irish, Scottish.

So was it "The Proposition" you saw the excerpt of? If so I did find it on Amazon UK and there are two listed - one the DVD and the other a VHS tape - the second is more reasonable but the DVD may be a better print. I may try and buy one of the DVD's from there or one from here, which is actually the German version but with English language options, too. I have seen it listed here before but will have to wait for a good price.

I am always waiting to hear if the Queen of the Night can handle THAT aria. I've seen it in the theatre, and everyone is on the edge of their seats to see if the singer can do it without bottling it !

Yes, Englishrose, who is that guy? I can certainly find some young appeal there. He has a cute face - sort of vulnerable looking; sweet curved lips, pretty 'bedroom' eyes and I always favor blond hair.

Oh my gosh, look what you made me do...or inspired me to do. I never really joined Youtube - just viewed the stuff all the time. Now I really wanted to comment about the obscure bits and so I signed up finally, username and password. I no sooner did and two big Branagh fans emailed me. One just emailed me again to request I be her friend. I hope I can talk them both into coming over here and they could join our club too, although I think they have pretty cool pages over there and lots to talk about about our guy. I hope one of them can tell me where to find "The Boy in the Bush" - the book I am reading by D.H.Lawrence, but the BBC film is impossible to find and it stars a very young Ken! In fact, he learned to horseback ride in that film. I know we are hijacking this thread, but there are not many people on here currently and with it being Thanksgiving over here probably many are stuffed and now sitting vegatating in front of TV's so don't worry about it. Have you ever read Ken's early autobiography? I loved every minute of it. I recently bought a biography by Mark White; now I can't wait to read it.

Oh, you must go over there and check it out. I think there are only a few segments of it or parts. You can get the idea though and it seems to be very intense. It made me want to watch it now. I also would like to get the Billy Plays, very early part for Branagh. Have you seen them?

That is definitely weird. The aria is on TV? Unreal and I bought the film last night, after I have waited for it for ages. One of the clips on Youtube showed the Queen of the Night hitting those high notes - I don't have a great ear for opera but it sounded impressive to me. Some listings for the BBC, were different or expanded in the KB category. I always have to hunt and go back pages. On our Amazon, that is how I found "Symphony for(at?) the Spire"...and the tape cost me only 98 cents! It plays fine. Of course, there was some shipping. Ken comes on stage (outdoor threater in front of the ancient cathedral) and re-enacts exerpts from Henry V. It is great - full orchestra playing Patrick Doyle's score...Placido Domingo sings some arias and another well-known opera female star sings and Charleston Heston recites some Shakespeare; well worth my 98 cents. I always loved that word - synchronicity - love the song by Sting....so there is some more synchronicity for you!

She said she might later tonight. But if she is feeling stuffed as I am right now and exhausted from cooking the turkey and cleaning up, then she might leave it till tomorrow. I think I am going to vegatate myself soon...I am getting digestion tired now...The turkey dinner came out great though. I was really pleased with it.

Well, it is the age old adage 'to each his own'. You, no doubt, would probably hate the guys I think are cute or attractive. Some of them are either dead or old, too!
