I'm going to be reading this soon and would like recommendations for a decent, or your favorite, translation. Thanks
No one has read Faust?

I trust Walter Kaufman's translations.

I have Kauffmann's as well as Stuart Atkin's and Martin Greenberg's. I don't remeber any of the translations having stood out far more than the other... but then again I was able to just scrape myself through reading it in the original when I still maintained just enough German some years ago.

I tried one that was god awful once, can't remember which, but it was one of those cheap hard-cover books that are published these days. I guess it was so cheap that they went with a public domain translation, keeping with the most mediocre couplets I have ever read. I read a better one some time later, but I can't remember the translator.
I suppose I'll read the first few pages of a few, keeping Kaufman in mind, and then make a decision.
