Well, well, look what the cat dragged in. You're in luck. We're starting a new Lawrence short story tomorrow.

As did you, though it looks like you've posted a lot since I've been gone. What have you been up to?

I saw that. It's a long one if I'm not mistaken. I'll try to read it sometime this week.

One other thing: can either of you think of any non-official, ongoing literature discussion--like the Lawrence or Chekhov threads--that are in progress now. Niamh wants to set up a directory index in the general literature forum with those threads.

Quark, I just found out not long ago you can easily do this. At the top of a forum you will see Thread Tools - just pull-down that menu and you will see the last option is 'Subscribe to this thread'....then everytime you go online you can just pull down the 'Quick Links' menu and find 'Subscribed Threads" - actually once you have done this and you come on your page that day it will show you the page you have made up with the links you visit. I have quite a number of links listed in there already...ones I normally daily check out. It is such a time-saver. Hope this helps.

Also one can rate the thread...you just vote on it at the top of that thread page. I voted for Chekhov and for Lawrence. That is the way they get the stars.

Niamh, I don't know about the sticky thing. I was approached before by Logos and Scher about that with Lawrence short story thread and I did not want to make it a sticky thread, because I refer back to things in that thread all the time, while we are discussing the stories. Also more people see it where it is situated. I hope you don't do it with the Lawrence one; I really wish for us to keep it as it is.
I believe just following the instructions, that I wrote above, will give Quark the list he is looking for. I did it awhile back and go right to my listings everytime, I come back on the forum...it is quite easy to do, to set up your own file with a list of threads your visit daily.

No i've scrapped the sticky idea. I'm going to create an index directory for all the bookclubs/ reading groups. If you go to the Photo directory or nighties recipe index page you will see what i'm suggesting.

So what is the verdict? Should we go ahead with the directory idea?

There is the poetry book read that quasimodo started. I forget the actual name of the thread. We are currently reading Eugenio Montale. And there is the Shakespeare Discussion thread. We are currently reading The Merry Wives of Windsor.

Also I got pretty busy with work for the better part of the summer, and then took a bit of time off to wander around, do some climbing, hiking, etc... and get some writing done.. the usual stuff for me lol..

Sounds like you've had some variety. What are you writing, by the way?

    Grad School.

I took a break from LitNet because it took me a while to learn how to manage my time. In English programs you really have split duties, and figuring out how much time to give each is quite a balancing act.

The Shakespeare one is in the official Bookclub forum, so there is no point adding that to the directory, which is just for unofficial reading groups and clubs started by forum members. i'll add the poerty one to the list.
