    1) cats cradle
    2)breakfast of champions
    3)god bless you mr. rosewater

cats cradle introduces bokonism, my favorite religion
breakfast of champions has kilgore trout as a lead character
mr rosewater is a great look at common decency

I really liked Slaughterhouse 5. I think it was the escapism that the protagonist used or developed. I also loved the essay collection 'Fates Worse Than Death'.

Timequake has always been my personal favorite. It was such a unique idea done in a very interesting way. That book changed my life. As you can see I even quote the book in my signature.

galapagos (indescribable?), breakfast of champions (my introduction to vonnegut), and welcome to the monkey house (has some really poignant short stories- harrison bergeron, et al)

i love vonnegut's ability to blend the depressing reality of humanity and bittersweet hope.
