    Anniversary Thoughts

It was just a little diamond
    more than he could afford
    but he wanted something
    that would last forever

    Holding hands they walked
    and laughed amongst
    the crackling Fall leaves
"I wonder if Now is the moment", he thought

    They made their way
    to The Bench ...
    an old familiar place ...
    their place

    Shyly he took her hand
    covered it with his own
    cleared his throat
    and began

    The ring was perfect
    her smile was perfect
    their kiss was perfect
    their tomorrows would be perfect

    *************************

    A few years have passed
    newlyweds they're not
    their vows have been tested
    but True Love lasts forever

Dedicated to my own dear "Mr.Paws" for our anniversary tomorrow.
Its not profound, but the words are true.

    Love always

Oh Kizzoo, that is so cute. I think Mr Paws is very lucky to have you, because to me, you are the little diamond.

This poem would be a sincere gift, precious than the diamond, for Mr.Paws. Happy anniversary, Kiz!

A very happy anniversary to you and Mr. Paws. May all your days be as bright and shining as the diamond he bought with such endearing hopefulness.

Not profound? True, much as deep, abiding love is not profound!

Nothing you've ever posted here has been without at least a smidgen of love. May that deep well continue to nourish you and all those around or in contact with you!!!

    That's really romantic - I'm sure he'll love it!
"I should only believe in a God that would know how to dance. And when I saw my devil, I found him serious, thorough, profound, solemn: he was the spirit of gravity- through him all things fall. Not by wrath, but by laughter, do we slay. Come, let us slay the spirit of gravity!" - Nietzsche

Simple but heartwarming. I liked how it wasn't too sentimental.

    'Holding hands they walked
    and laughed amongst
    the crackling Fall leaves
"I wonder if Now is the moment", he thought'

My favourite stanza, I thought that the assonance prominent at the end of the lines worked well. 'crackling fall leaves' is a comforting image as well.

    'They made their way
    to The Bench ...
    an old familiar place ...
    their place'

I liked the sense of nostalgia here, I can relate to this in many different ways.

    'Shyly he took her hand
    covered it with his own'

I don't know why but I liked these lines, just like your choice of words in 'covered it with his own'.

Anyway nice poem, I did think it was going to have something of a downbeat ending though. The last stanza lead me to believe this but the last line proved otherwise.
