    Need a good love story....

    Hi !

Any suggestions would be appreciated for a good romantic book to read, as inspiration for a painting I am working on...
I am looking for a love story which has elements of sadness & sensuality -

any input most welcome; I am new here - so thanks in advance !

The Great Gatsby- lots of imagery, especially colours.

for something dramatic as well as romantic you could also read Orpheus and Eurydice.
    good luck with the project.

    ooooo!

    all wonderful reads- thanks!
I love The Great Gatsby -haunting story, and Greek Mythology I turn to again and again for inspiration - is "Orpheus and Eurydice" an actual book I wonder? or just look the myth up....
English Patient -beautifully written as well , haven't managed to finish "Gone with the Wind" but will try harder.

Well worth a read is "Possession" - A.S Byatt - This is a stunningly moving love story but much more as well...encompassing the Mermaid archytype; Darwinianism and feminist issues.

    thanks for suggestions so far
