Prisoner of the soul
so many thoughts flow through my mind as i stare at these four walls
trying to keep my faith alive even when my spirit stumbles and falls,
i know i made many mistakes for which i now must pay
but accepting that fact doesn’t make it any easier to get through the day
so i turn to god,hoping to make the time go fast
praying his forgiveness will wash away the sins of my past,
hoping the pain will end and the lonliness subside
i try to renew old dreams i once thought died,
i educate myself on how good life could be
but first i must have the strength to stay straight when im free,
i know if i believe in myself and try to do whats right
there’ll come a day when i’m released into the warm sunlight,
a day ill walk down the street and be proud of what i am
with the future shining bright and the past finally becoming dim
