I haven't read this novel yet, but it's interesting to read the above comment, that the first parts of this book is quite boring. Personally I think Hardy was known for his talent in gaining readers' attention by giving interesting openings in the beginning of his novels. Jude and Tess are two good examples.Posted By Matt: I'm teaching the book for Decathlon, and all I can say is to stick with it. I too thought it a bit boring at first, but once you get into it, you want to find out what happens.
