The Dark Knight was awesome! The best comic book adaption to date. In Campbell's the Power of Myth the interviewer ask him if the Myths are still valid for adults or do new ones need to be created and I think Nolan has done a great job converting childhood icons to adulthood. I will be seeing this in the theaters again. I think the Joker was the inciting force of the film, but Harvey Dent and Gordon had great parts in the film. Bruce Wayne/Batman had just the right amount of screen time since the story asked whether Gotham could survive without Batman and could Harvey Dent take over Batman's mantle, so it was important to not place the focus on Batman.

I'd have to agree. I liked how the name of the movie created an irony between the Batman and Harvey.
Harvey was the crusading forerunner for Justice, that rare White Knight, only to be shot straight to hell and start flippin' coins and blowin' men straight to pieces.
And then you got the true hero, that outcast vigilante. That elusive Dark Knight that sticks to his morals through and through.
It was a pretty ironic Ying Yang.

Never has a movie with so many chases, violence, fights, cars and general cool stuff bored me as much as this one.
I did like it up until the extended training sequence, hence the 2 marks.
Back to my library computer again...what a pain. Hi Lady Wentworth, soooo glad you finally got to see it. I had to settle for a used tape but I would invest in the DVD if that becomes available - I will have to track it down when I get a new computer and up and running once again at home. For now my time is so limited on here.After all these years, I finally saw it. It was on TV the other night. I thought they were all pretty good, but Pacino really did stand out in there. As he really should considering he is Richard!I thought it was a very good film. My only major problem was the choice of Winona Ryder. That just seemed odd. Don't even get me started on the delivery of her lines!
Actually, it is on DVD. I only know this because as soon as I see a movie I have to then rate it on Netflix.
Kenneth as Richard? That is interesting. I honestly cannot picture him as Richard (even if it is just listening to his voice performance). Naturally he is good, though, right?
Yes, I thought Richard was Pacino himself! He was amazing in the role. I think he was better than he was in "The Merchant of Venice"...for one, he seems to really love the role and relate to it. Yes, it was a bit odd using Ryder in the film.
Yes, indeed the CD set with Branagh is wonderful - beyond good! I have listened to it so many times now I know nearly all the lines, well; as the come up. I especially love the scene when Richard dreams of all the people he has had murdered - the appear as ghosts. That scene is so awesome.
Branagh did the play for a time on stage. I have seen photos on the Compendium site of him playing the role - I must admit they look rather strange - it appears sort of demented. I guess Richard was and to some extend this is but one interpretation. The play is one of my favorites of Shakespeare's, can you believe it? It is like a good murder mystery or thriller, don't you think with lots of pychological stuff going on.

Dark Knight watched whn in New York last week. Best of the bunch and I'm hard to please where Bats is concerned. Rate a 9. But this so seemed like a middle chapter to a trilogy.

It was simple. It was enjoyable enough. It was basically just like the stage version.
It was so obviously a cliffhanger. I have this feeling that they are planning on maybe a little more than just a trilogy. But that is just a feeling that I have.

I don't know what to give it. It was very good. It just wasn't what I expected. I wasn't happy with something in there. I won't discuss it because I don't want to give anything away for people who haven't seen it. Anyway, "Batman Begins" was, for me, an excellent film. I think this one is good but not as good as that one. Nowhere near it. Also, and this is the last thing that I will say about this movie, I wish I could see a little more respect given to Aaron Eckhart. After all, this movie is more his story than anyone else's. I think he does a very good job as Harvey Dent. That is it. I don't have anything else to say about it and I will no longer discuss it.
I watched Step Brothers last night. It was pretty much what I expected: stupid, irreverent, foul-mouthed, crude, toilet humor... and I mean that in a great way. This was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. I've been reading a few reviews from some of the more pretentious critics who have been attacking the movie for "boorish behaviour" and "ludicrous plot." I think these people are missing the point. The film makers didn't set out to remake Citizen Kane, they just made a funny movie about two spoiled middle-aged men who still live at home and are forced to share a room when their parents marry. That's it. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone that gets a kick out of this type of pointless, immature fun. 9/10
I was planning on going to see it this coming Tuesday. I am glad to hear that somebody liked it. I thought that it looked like it was just a stupid, yet funny, movie. The sort of movie that I need to watch every now and then. I am happy to hear that it is what I expected it to be.

Last night I saw a movie called La Moustache, a French movie made a few years ago. Very strange, sometimes almost to the point of surreal, intelligent and captivating. 8/10
