    untitled

    A sleepy rain was falling
    so lazy in its descent
a sullen fog blanketed the forest
    nature's quilted lament
nothing stirred in the barren canopy
    nor on the ground below
all the citizens of this wooden town
    gave up so long ago.
    Permit me to doubt.

Another very nice one...you have quite a flare for words. From what I've read so far you're very talented at invoking an image without being verbose. I like the phrase "wooden town" to describe the forest. And, once again, the last two lines are penetrating and chilling.
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

    thx

At one time this poem had a deep personal meaning to me, but, unfortunately, I don't remember what it was about. It was a metaphor for something that happened to me, but I have absolutely no recollection of what the circumstances were. So, alas, all that remains is the imagery
    Permit me to doubt.
