Do you spend more time actually reading or browsing forums about literature?

For me it's definitely more reading than forums but I can easily see it being the other way around. I spend more time on forums about movies than actually watching them by a lot.

I'm sure more than a few of you are guilty of this! :P

I definitely spend more time reading. I used to be a lot more active on the literature boards but I got tired of saying the same things over and over again and having the same arguments so now I just mostly read. The forums are still great for recommendations, ideas of what books and authors to check out next and to "network" with fellows fans of favorite works reading books is by far, my focus.

haha I just joined so I'm on here much more and can relate to the latter, taking notes mostly, but I certainly still read as well- I imagine like Idril I will eventually get back to reading more so as my membership becomes more steady

You know I've asked myself that too. And I have to admit that ever since lit net I spend way more time on the forum than actually reading. I really would like to change that. But then again, I' usually sneaking on to the forum when I'm at work or getting on after work when I'm just too brain dead to read.

There have been several times lately that I've said to myself "Get off the forum and read!!" I have three books from a coworker that i need to get through as quickly as possible so I can give them back.

I only look at the forum during a break at work and i read for at least a couple of hours every day so i would have to say that i read more. I am in a bookclub so the forum has some great hints on the novels that we read and its fun

Interesting question. This made me think, but the thing is very much mixed up for me. Literature Network is the only forum that I visit frequently, on regular basis and I am on here for about 1-3 hours usually. During all this time, not only do I browse the posts here, find myself attracted towards the collection of short stories too. I completed a fair number from Chekhov's short story collection just when I was logged on in here.

Being an avid reader of fan-fictions (especially HP series), I browse ff.net during this time too so over all what I want to say is that often the time that I spend here is accompanied by some short-story/book/easy reading too so I can't really decide where of these 1-3 hours, I go for more. But if you ask me whether I spend more time being on internet (counting the time I read stories over here) or actually reading paper-back/hard-cover books, my answer would be net, and hey I don't see what's here to be guilty of.

I probably spend more time on LitNet than reading. But I find that it's because whenever I'm on the computer I'm doing something else like homework or emailing or research or SOMETHING so it becomes a little easy just to come here while I'm doing all that anyhow.

It depends. Lately I've definitely been reading more than on the forum (not having internet at the house for the last several weeks probably has something to do with that ). But sometimes I'll get in these times when I'm on litnet all the time, and not reading so much.

I have to say I like talking about literature.

I tend to only get an hour or two at the end of the night before bed to read seriously - usually I keep to a system of a chapter out of two books per night. I had a lot more time last year to read while I was boarding at school. Also no internet.

But yeah, this year I've spent a lot more time browsing & discussing literature on these forums. I love litnet! YAY!

    Reading.
I usually don't even go online on most working days because my schedule is pretty tight (lycee, piano, 'social duties' such as spending enormous parts of days in various caffes, etc ), and I wouldn't have time reading if I browsed internet for a few hours daily. So it's definitely reading in my case.

It depends. When I'm on break from school, I spend more time reading. During school, I spend more time on the forum because I'm on the computer more studying,so it's easy to open another window and post here and there.
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.
