    name your favorite understated musician

    hey y'all!

when i posted this: http://www.online-literature.com/for...ad.php?t=33591 thread, people gave me lots of list of their favorite musicans and songs. Some were unknown to me but most of them were really famous and well-known world wide.

So I now present to you this thread, to name your favorite understated musican/singer/band/. He/she/it has to be little known in or outside your country (And by little known i mean not something like AC/DC or ABBA) but make music which you think it's really good.

My favorite understated artist is Vanessa Carlton (from the link in my signature) What's yours?
    Shall these bones live?

Okay, after thinking, maybe Delta isn't that understated, I thought of someone else..

hey cool thread, ryu! Here's one: Majida el Roumi. She's a famous Lebanese singer.

    "To talk of many things:
    Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
    Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
    And whether pigs have wings."

Don't be fooled, DEVO is not a novelty band.

Others...I don't see why Man or Astroman? never got a hit. They're just too cool, I guess.

And Mark Mothersbaugh, too. I love it how everyone knows the Rugrats Theme but they don't know who did it (or what the theme was actually made for) and what an accomplished musician he is. And how subversive it all is on top of it.

But you guys already knew I was going to say all this.

they were pretty huge. or do you mean "i don't see why Man or Astroman? were never signed to a major label"? that might've had more to do with personal choice than lack of opportunity.

Well, I can see why they didn't do that, (stupid corporate glorps!) but I have only personally met one person who actually knows who they are so far. Anyways, I love 'em, don't need to question that.

I wasn't expecting anyone to respond to that part of my post! So that goes to show you. Maybe I'm just isolated from other fellow Man or Astroman? fans. Is it cuz I'm far away from Alabama?

Actually I wasn't expecting anyone to respond to anything I said.

I really wish MoAM? would add more to their website, too.
