... I'm going to say you're lying about being able to speak German.
Naked except for a cigarette, you let your mind drift and forget your disbelief. Feel the chill down your back and the flutter of wings through dandelion fields, and forget the pull of gravity in a night without stars.

I lack eloquence and commitment to my arguments. They are half baked, and I will begin passionately, and then abandon them.

I suppose the first one is right. You say you don't speak Spanish and as Taliesin said, the sentence is very simple so you don't have to know the language to write it.

The third one must be true, too, but that is only because you made too much mistakes in the second sentence.A person that speaks French, however rusty their French might be,knows basic verbs correctly.According to me,a francophone would never say "je parler"...So,is the second one a lie?

    You don`t talk French.

    Extremely funny German sentence, Pen.

    Re-translated it's:

The German I knowledgeable as a knave is silent strong.

Who can tell if right or wrong
if the knave is silent strong?
O schaurig ists übers Moor zu gehn,
    wenn es wimmelt vom Heiderauche,

Oh, yes, my friends, you caught the spy, unt you haf vays to make me talk, eh? Dat is gut! No, I cannot speak German, and the sentence is proof as it was supposed to say "The German I learned as a youth is still good." I did have a German friend as a boy and learned enough to get by, but forgot all of it, except a few words. My High School French is rusty and I read the language much better than I talk or speak it, I sound like a very bad actor trying out for the Marx Brothers. My children speak Spanish, my daughter fluently, but I have problems, and with a larger Hispanic population in the area, I could use the language. Au revoir , mon amis!

    How about these statements, then?

    1. My study needs redecorating - urgently. But I've been putting it off for three years now because I'd have to remove all my books and things, unscrew the shelves, dismantle the computer etc. Just can't make up my mind.

    2. You probably know I'm a teacher and - in my free time - a comedian. I think I'll quit teaching and become a full-time comedian. The government has been heaping extra work on us during the last few years while reducing our pay. It's not fun any more.

    3. My two orange tomcats are brothers. We don't know how old they really are because we got them from an organisation that catches and looks after stray cats.

    Hm, too easy?

Seems like a lie to me. Can be wrong though of course. Due to sleeplessness mind is a bit weary.

Well, as to #1, most of us have a "to do" list a mile long.

As to #3. I got my Schnauzer from such an agency. She was in the cage with her brother.

Which brings us to #2 and I'm wondering if a teacher wouldn't use the word "comedienne", just being a teacher, and the strictness they impose on others? I'll vote for #2 as the lie, Barbie!

Yes, certainly too easy for your great minds! Of course you're both right.

Hi, Pen. I didn't even know an English word "comedienne" existed. Had to look it up in my dictionary at once. It says comedienne is old-fashioned and comedian is used for both sexes. What do you make of that, huh?

My English teacher likes old-fashioned stuff.

    1. I can dance well.
    2. 'Majority is authority' I am not sure if I agree with this.
    3. Have watched only the first two seasons of the tv serial Lost yet.

I have a hard time reading you, Pensy, for some reason...

#2) From our conversations, which I miss, BTW, I will say this is true.

#3) Hasn't there only been two seasons?

#1) Your culture does inspire dancing and I am certain you can dance. The question is "Can you dance well?" I seem to recall you saying you had two left feet. So this is the lie. #1 is the lie.

And Barbie, someone who uses the word "daemon" often wouldn't find the word "comedienne" the least old fashioned!

Two left feet? Ummm, not really. But hey this doesn't mean that number one can't be a lie.
