Question What did the critics say?

I am working on an assignment and need to find five quotes by critics in reaction to the works of Victor Hugo. I’ve been searching and searching and I can’t find anything. Does anyone know a source for this information? I would greatly appreciate any help.

I was actually recently looking for similar info on Hugo's novel, not the play, in English but found it difficult to find many sources on the `net. Hugo did cause a lot of controversy with Les Mis...

This site has some 19th c and contemporary reviews/essays, "tributes and literary references" etc. hosted by Cornell University.

You could also check out Gustave Flaubert's letters to George Sand There are some hits for 'Hugo':

And... if you can get your hands on it, Barnes and Noble's Les Mis has supplemental info to the novel.

To get things clear, they have to firstly be very unclear. But if you get them too quickly, you probably got them wrong.
