    Romeo and Juliet

In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, what were the people like: Actors (men and women), make-up, dress and audiences?

well, there really weren't any women actors. it was illegal! and the dress was pretty much like you know, Elizabethan England stuff, like in the movie except less fancy.

Actually many actors had rich sponsors, so sometimes their costume didn't really fit their part, and just advertised their loyalty to a particular.

All the actors were men as was the custom of the day. The audience ( lower class) paid about a penny to see the show. They were referred to as ground lings as they stood in a pit. The patrons who could pay more sat in sets with an awning of sort to protect then fro the elements.

Most of the audience knew the play quite well. They were very supportive of "good acting' Of course, when they were displeased they tended to throw their leftover food...not so nice

How were the actors, like, 'chosen' for the plays?
