This sounds like a big joke to me.
I suppose it depends if the woman knew what was going to happen. I think you'd have to watch it to understand. They don't go naked on TV, at most they strip down to their underwear. Perhaps they're all good actresses, but when you see someone standing there in their underwear in front of a mirror sobbing, unable to look at themselves, and their husband/partner explaining how they haven't seen them naked for X number of years, I think it brings it home how desperate they've become, and perhaps something that drastic is what they need.

on a more serious note, this programme sounds interesting. I wanna watch it
hubby and me are going to England from Feb. 15 to 21, maybe I can catch it then. is it on every day?
yep, most men are much more accepting of 'imperfect' female bodies than you'd think. I think women put a lot more pressure on themselves than is necessary, because they assume men have these 'high' standards, but in reality men have totally different preferences.
It's not on every night Sleepy, I'm not sure when it's on actually but it'll be on Channel 4 if you want to look for it.

Someone should have told Captain Kirk to go easy on the lipstick, he's got it all over himself!

hehehehe, and his hairpiece is ruffled, too. who knows what those boys have been up to?
but if Captain Kirk can be naked on the telly, then those women shouldn't be embarrassed at all

Yes, I understand what you mean. My question is just: why can't the husband explain this to his wife without going on TV? You know, it's like TV has become the solution to everything.
You're a teenager and you don't know what to do with your life? Go to Pop Idol. You will love it. They will love you, too. For something like 3 months. After, you'll be forgotten and depressed.
You don't like the way you look? (even dressed!): Go to 'A New Look for a New Life'. You will look great after. You will, because you will look like anything but yourself. (in the beginning of the show, they will even put you in the middle of a street and ask everyone to tell how horrible you look).
You're a mother and you don't know how to manage with your kids? Call SuperNanny, she will handle those brats on TV and show the country what a bad mother you have been.
You are too lazy to clean your house? Call the members of this show who will clean everything up and show the entire country how dirty you are.

    You see what I mean?

But beyond that, yes I understand your point too. This is sad indeed. And this is also true that I cannot really tell anything since I have not seen the programme in question. If this programme helps some women, I guess it still has good points.

I watched one of them while I was in London and it wasn't too bad. As someone else here said, it is a bit exhibitionist, and you wonder, if the person who up to now was not comfortable with her/his body, how can they then show it all on TV?
Still, it's not a bad way to prove that there's nothing wrong with people's bodies not being what is generally conceived as the 'perfect' shape.

To be honest after seeing those ordinary bodies...ladies on the catwalks, the supermodels...they looked extremely malnutrionionted and bit off putting...Sexy it aint! I prefer the bollywood lassies...they are more curvy and ooze sex appeal like honey

I already look great naked. I don't need that show. But you Lote must be in great need of the show. (Only kidding of course.)

I watched some of it and it was rather amusing. this woman just kept complaining about how many of her body parts she hated! I was stunned! How can anyone hate their body on the first place? people are weird!

Hm I don't know. Shows about looks are always evil to me, but on the upside this is about looking ordinary and feeling good about it (as far as I've understood from this discussion... been in the UK for over one year and I still can't tell channels apart so I'd have to actually sit and find out which one is channel 4 Shouldnt be hard though ). I think I saw some show about women with big breasts once, that was weird.

Ha ha, this was the laugh that I needed today, thanks Virg!

But seriously, good thread idea, Lote (as usual!)
