    Wow, we have a few MP fans here! Ok, are they the best or what???

    Lady Wentworth, I hope Virgil is wrong this time or doesn't have your same taste. Hopefully you will like the show; his wife seemed to like it well enough. Oh yikes - the 'killer bunny" is my favorite scene - Virgil, and I love the holy hand-granade!!!

    So you have the soundtrack to Amelie - it came in my library to my gleeful eyes! I was able to download it and get the music. I ordered "Dead Again" tonight. I hope you don't say you have it - oh well, if you do. It dawned on me that was one KB/Doyle album I did not own. I actually, ordered a like-new one - hope it is fine...was a good price. Do you just love soundtracks? By the way, "As you Like it" CD is stunning! I had to have it. PD does it again! Awww...

    The Company -- 2007 miniseries 4 1/2 hrs., all in all pretty good espionage, action

    the recent Frank Langella one "Starting Out In th Evening" -- only for the mature; not a Hollywood-type of movie; Langella deserves consideration for Academy Award, well-done; girl was good too. Abit on the sober and dark side. About literature.

    I finally got to see hte movie Once. What a wonderful movie. I couldnt help bout laugh at the beginning with the "skanger" as we call them. There was so much emotion in the movie. 10/10

    I've seen the trailer for that a dozen times (about a month ago I went to quite a few matinees...same trailers for 2 weeks!) and it just completely put me off from wanting to see it. But then you say it's good...might have to reconsider....

    there is just something so natural about it. And the songs in it are beautiful. It also brings to life a reality that is in Dublin today, with eastern europeans living in rundown places, and the poverty some of them live in here. The Big issue, and flower selling thing is there everyday. The relationship between the two main characters was full of passion. No wonder they ended up getting together in real life!

    Mr. Brooks - 8/10

    I was surprised to find out that this movie was actually good. At least for me it was good. I got it from Netflix "just because". I ended up liking it enough. I am one of the few people that actually doesn't mind Kevin Costner. I think that he was the best part of the film. Definitely a different role than he usually plays.

    Persuasion- I love Persuasion. Was undisturbed watching it, then it gets to THAT BIT! and my mam walks in and starts talking!!!(Lady Went knows what bit i'm on about!)

    Niamh, I love that version and recently broke down and purchased it. I love Ciaran Hinds, even if he is 'not a looker', as you put it. Maybe he appeals to older ladies like me, who know . He has 'something' one can't quite describe - *swoons* is good.
    I absolutely love him in the role of the A&E version of "The Mayor of Casterbridge" - the ending breaks my heart and I sob everytime. He makes the perfect Michael Henchard in that film, and the perfect Captain Wentworth in "Persuasion".

    Last night I tried to watch the rest of ..

    "White Nights" starring the two incredible talents and dancers - Mikhail Baryshnikov and Gregory Hinds....

    let me explain.... I need a new DVD player and am still trying to figure out just what kind to buy for my new HD TV...you know, technology keeps advancing so rapidly that one is left standing in a cloud of dust, totally confused. Right now there are dozens of different kinds out there, to choose from... I am thoroughly miffed by now! Ok, anyway, my current player is on the blink and I can watch about an hour and then it just freezes up, like an older computer.

    So anyway, I am half way through that film and enjoying it very much. I only saw it years ago. The story may lack a little, but the acting is fairly good and the dancing is extraordinary and well worth seeing the film for. Also, the song "Say You, Say Me" was giving the Oscar that year, for best song. It is a very interesting film and if you like dancers, trust me, you will like this film very much. The blending of ballet and tap is amazing! Also, Helen Mirren and Isabella Roselina have memorable parts, although short.

    So when the freezeup came, I switched to my VHS player and watched the rest of...

    "Dead Poet's Society" - what a great film this is and after all these years it still holds up and I cry at certain scenes. I would give this fine film a 10/10 definitely. I can't find fault with anything in it.

    I agree that the end of the mayor of Casterbridge was very sad. He was wonderful in that dramatisation.

    Niamh, so you saw that version, too? I really thought it was so well done. I had to buy it and now watch it often although that ending kills me everytime. I thought he was wonderful acting in that film. He is a very fine actor with great facial expressions - very subtle at times. He has a certain appeal.

    Not THAT part?!?!? How terrible! No matter how many times I may read that part, or watch it, I have to have complete solitude to just live in that moment! Poor you! No, Hinds isn't the handsomest of men, but for some reason when he is Wentworth, he is the greatest man alive!

    You said it, LW! Hinds becomes Captain Wentworth in that film!

    Don't you hate it when someone does that? Then you are stuck with that tune in your head all day long..... You can't rid yourself of it...catchy little song isn't it?
