    Tragic Truths and Hope

    This poem has two parts.

    TRAGIC TRUTHS

    Tragic truths in life exist
    that cannot be escaped.
Rage will fuel the lustful fist,
    as innocence is raped.
    Agony shall never die,
for hearts are built to break.
    Guiltless killers never cry
For those whose lives they take.
    Indigence and dearth deprive
    the starving mouths their dues.
    Children cry and battered wives
    tell lies for every bruise.

Tyrants still oppose the peace -
    the meek accept their chains.
Racist acts shall fail to cease,
    as long as hate remains.
Users steal from those they love
    to feed dependencies.
Time will slowly rob us of
    our youthful liberties.
    Horrors of the war machines
    will rage their death campaign.
Sorrow fills our tv screens -
    to shock and entertain.

    HOPE

    Hope exists within the soul
to lead us all to grace.
    Only hope will help console
    the tragic truths we face.
Pain and loss in every heart
    can all just fade away.
Everyone can play a part -
    give hope a chance today.

narrowly religious, social and political to the extent it makes this piece bland.

"He was nauseous with regret when he saw her face again, and when, as of yore, he pleaded and begged at her knees for the joy of her being. She understood Neal; she stroked his hair; she knew he was mad."
