He was really a great American poet of the 20th century. He had undergone many struggles in life, first starting his career as a bobbin boy. Do you understand what a bobbin boy is, the one who works in the factory to assist weavers. He had been a school teacher, a shoe maker. Though he wrote many poems could not have many of them published.

He wrote basically about rural New England, about rusticity and rural settings using the language used there, emotionally charged and poignant. He was a kind of romantic

“Those who seek to satisfy the mind of man by hampering it with ceremonies and music and affecting charity and devotion have lost their original nature””

“If water derives lucidity from stillness, how much more the faculties of the mind! The mind of the sage, being in repose, becomes the mirror of the universe, the speculum of all creation.

Frost was a great writer of the ordinary--picking apples, walking down roads, mending fences, riding a sleigh. He uses these ordinary events to discuss life's larger issues. He uses plain language to impart some strong feelings and universal truths. In short, Frost is a "regular guy" who inspires readers to think far beyond the ordinary.
