Cold Rain And Snow ....... Shalot...
Nice to see another one of the Dead's various setlist posted.
    Lyrics: Traditional
    Music: Traditional

One of the songs played from the earliest days of the Grateful Dead.

"One pane of glass in the window
    No one is complaining though,
come in and shut the door
Faded is the crimson from the
    ribbons that she wore
and it's strange how no one
    comes round anymore"
"I do not intend to tiptoe through life only to arrive safely at death"-anon

It Must Have Been the Roses ~ Greatful Dead

Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach or Hollywood.
I'm taking a Greyhound on the Hudson River line-
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

New York State Of Mind ~ Billy Joel

Now as I rest my feet by this fire
Those hands once warmed here, but I have retired them.
I can breathe my own air and I can sleep more soundly
    Upon these poor souls,
Ill build heaven and call it home.
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Idril's is Don't Drink the Water ~ Dave Matthew Band (Seem to recall watching a movie with that title that contained thay song back a long while)(but I could be wrong!!!)

    No one lets it show
    I've been shadows of myself
    How was I to know?
    Tell me scarlet sun
    what will time allow?
    We have brought our children
here Who can save them now?
Oh, Weeping woman try to smile
    Like the coming dawn
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Most of us are Sad - The Eagles

    You should have seen him
Lying alone in helpless silence in the night
    You should have seen him
You would have seen his eye reflecting in the light
    So for the old man
Ashes to ashes, earth to earth and dust to dust
    No one will see me
No one with guilt to share, no secret soul to trust
And he won't be found at all
Not a trace to mark his fall
Nor a stain upon the wall
    Louder and louder
Till I could tell the sound was not within my ears
    You should have seen me
You would have seen my eyes grow white and cold with fear

Heard all the things in Heaven and Earth
I've seen many things in Hell
But his vulture's eye of a cold pale blue
Is the eye if the Devil himself
    Take me away now
But let the silence drown the beating of his heart
    I can't go on
Let me be free from wretched sea that I can not see
    Please let me be free

Wow! Another song from that disc! I listened to this album a LOT when I was a kid. I think my favorite song was Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether. Anyway, the song above is The Tell-Tale Heart by the Alan Parsons Project.

I am not the type of dog
    That could keep you waiting
    For no good reason
Run a carbon-black test on my jaw
And you will find it's all been said before
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    Hairshirt - REM

    I love the music
And I love to see the crowd.
    Dancing in the aisles,
    And singin' out loud.....yea
Here come the dancers, one by one.
Your momma's callin' but you're having fun.
You find your dancin' on the number 9 cloud.
Put your hands together now, and sing it out loud.

Rock N Roll Fantasy - Bad Company

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
    It's personal, myself and I
We've got some straightenin' out to do
And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket*

*Grammar alert: what is wrong with this phrase?

And honestly, how many more times are they going to play this on the radio????
"...if you weren't smart enough to get a pedophile in a dress to put a small amount of water on the child’s forehead, then what the eff did you think was going to happen?

Really? There are at least 10 links to "Friend With Weed" by Butthole Surfers, and then those exact lyrics follow.

Of course, the track doesn't appear on any of their albums - I thought maybe they covered it or something.

BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY - Fergie

You, You belong to me now
Ain't gonna set you free now
When those guys start hanging around talking me down
Hear with your heart and you won't hear a sound
Just Stop, 'cause I really love you
Stop, I'll be thinking of you

Love Will Keep Us Together ~ Captain and Tennille

I beg of you, don't say goodbye
Can't we give our love another try
Come on baby, let's start anew

feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,

    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do ~ The Carpenters?

I wanted a junction, and often there was one
You'd surface face first and we'd share thought bubbles
and I still believe in the phrases that we breathed
but I know the distance isn't fair to cross
"Don't matter who they are, anybody sets foot in this house, they are company and don't let me catch you remarking on their ways like you were so high and mighty."

I was thinking Neil Sedaka but Carpenters are good.

    True Affection ~ The Blow!

Now darling she can't keep on waiting
Till you give a **** that she's fading
Her blood it flows softly inside her
    Spinning awaiting her lover
    So kiss her lips tonight
    Please make her feel alive...
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.
