    Sways among the dead
    The myrtle, stands laurel too;
    Sorrow and honour.
    Voices mysterious far and near,
Sound of the wind and sound of the sea,
Are calling and whispering in my ear,
    Whifflingpin! Why stayest thou here?

    Sorrow and honour

Glad that u like my haikus. I remember starting off with posting haikus and cinquains with miscounted syllable orders in every thread when i first began participating in this forum a few weeks back (cuz thats what happens when u post without checking the first page containing the rules! ) Anyway, now that I'm 'catching on' to it, i'm finding it more fun and i must say i'm getting addicted to this forum, esp. the personal poetry section.

    Brushed against his sin
    tottering piles of infamy
    crumpled upon his throne.

By the way, toni, I dont have a blog in the lit-net. Which blog were u talking about? the one in my.opera? if yes, how did u come across it?

    Crumpled on his throne
    the makeshift despot wearied
    no one will listen...

    no one will listen

Oh, that. People never agree on syllable count, but then we all pronouce things differently. Had one I didn't see how it could possibly be off any way you pronounced the last line shortened. Que sera, sera!

    Speak to the many
    of wonder, power, glory:
    But will they listen?

    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

    but will they listen
    to soft symphonies of peace
    tuned with melodies?

    tuned with melodies

    My neighbor's small mouth
    did reveal a sad secret
    we cried together

    We cried together
    The movie was tear-jerking
    Then how could we laugh?
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew.

    How could we laugh?
    After all we have seen
    How sugar tastes saline?
    while salt tastes sweet
But I, being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly because you tread on my dreams. (W.B.Yeats)

Momtaz, i see u did the same mistake as i did a few weeks ago... checking out the 1st page does the trick

    Then how could we laugh
while a child in rags worn out
    was crying hungry?

    Was crying hungry,
The blood of him who died. Lo,
    He gave you your life.

Hm, bad- I couldn't come up with much. I guess it would infer that the man died for you so that you can have a life (Ex. Soldier dying for his country?).
In this seemingly never ending end of what we call- life, I live.

I live in regrets and they make me who I am. But without regrets- I would not know, what I know today.

He who dwells much on his past, he will miss the present- which then in consequence- will cause him to ruin his future.
