Dream On - The Oak Ridge Boys

Her mean mother steps then says to me "Hi!!"
Decked Sally in the face and punched her in the eye
Punched her in the belly and stepped on her feet
Slammed the child on the hard concrete
"...if you weren't smart enough to get a pedophile in a dress to put a small amount of water on the child’s forehead, then what the eff did you think was going to happen?

Subterranean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan

Teddy sniffing glue he was 12 years old
Fell from the roof on East Two-nine
Cathy was 11 when she pulled the plug
On 26 reds and a bottle of wine
Bobby got leukemia, 14 years old
He looked like 65 when he died

Jim Caroll ~ People Who Died. You know, Papayahed, you have unwittingly solved a huge mystery for me. I didn't know the lyrics, they were hauntingly familar but I had to google them and when I did, I discovered that was the song that has been driving me nuts for years. My high school friends used to listen to that song every now and then but I never knew who it was, the only thing I could remember was the line, "They were all my friends, and they died". When I asked one of my friends a few years later who sang that song, she had no clue what song I was talking about, I began to think I just made the whole thing up...but now I know, it's called People Who Died and it's by Jim Carroll and I feel vindicated. Thank you, Papayhed.

I will walk in the garden
    And feel religion within
I will learn how to run with the big boys
I will learn how to sink and to swim
And there's talk in the houses
    And people dancing in rings
Ah, when you close my eyes, babe?
    I can see most everything
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

JUST LIKE U SAID IT WOULD B ~ (Sinéad O'Connor/Steve Wickham) [You Know I googled that one!

An angel's smile is what you sell
You promise me heaven then put me through hell
Chains of love, got a hold on me
When passion's a prison you can't break free
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Bon Jovi ~ You Give Love a Bad Name. I have a great story about that song, but not one that I can share.

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Helter Skelter by...take your pick, I tend to think of the Beatles version first.

    Ramblin' where to begin
I taste the summer on your peppery skin
Been saved the warmer the waves
I felt a slip into a watery grave
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

Summersong ~ The Decemberists (help from kids)

You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if I gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work, you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Get Over It - The Eagles

    Girl, close your eyes,
let that Rhythm get into you.
    Don't try to fight it,
there ain't nothing that you can do.
    Relax your mind.
Lay back and groove with mine.

Rock With You - Michael Jackson (FINALLY!! One I know!!)

    Isn't it strange
    The way things can change
Life that you lead turned on its head

    Suddenly someone
Means more than you felt before
    House and its yard
    Turns into home

Sorry, but I meant to say
    Many things along the way

    This one's for you...
    Por una cabeza
    Si ella me olvida
    Qué importa perderme
    Mil veces la vida
    Para qué vivir

    That doesn't sound good.

Anyway, Robin's song is Ache ~ James Carrington

I really miss your hair in my face
And the way your innocence tastes
    (ewww)
And I think you should know this
You deserve much better than me
(I'll give you a hint: It is a current song and they couldn't possibly play it anymore. In fact, it was on two different stations at the same time on the way to the store, and then it was on again when I got home . )

Actually, it's really funny just not family friendly.

BlueSky, your song is You Know I'm No Good by Amy Winehouse.

And because I have no imagination today, I'm going to go with lyrics from the song I'm currently listening to...

We will come to your town
    Burn your house down
    Turn the sky brown
All because, all because, all because
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.
