Hi all! Enjoy yourself here.![]()
I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew.
Hello there! I am so exited I found this site!
I am afraid I am horrible with this forum format. I have recently been accepted into an online program for Writing and Literature and need to improve my posting skills. That would be the first reason I began searching for a literature site the other of course is because I love books.
I noticed that a few of my postings appeared in some very odd places… I think I may have discovered why – I was not watching the dates and it seems I may have posted a couple replies to old messages – yet they showed up at the end of the thread. Like I said I am new to this so please bear with me.
Here is my introduction. I am a mother and soon to be a grandmother (September). I am a custodian at a small college. I have also been attending classes there on a part-time basis and quite frankly I am tired of the slow progress, hence the transfer to an online college where I will keep a full course load. I originally majored in English with the intent to become a high school teacher; however I decided I would prefer a college setting.
My hobbies are cake decorating, drawing, watercolor painting, bird-watching, gardening (not the edible type) though I hope to create one someday, and of course reading.
I enjoy the tranquility of my back-yard bird habitat. I can boast that on one occasion I was blessed with the presence of the following birds: A Rose-Breasted Grossbeak, Yellow-Bellied Woodpecker, Nuthatch, a pair of Cardinals, three Mourning Doves, several Wrens, many Hummingbirds and Gold Finches, and an Indigo Bunting.
I love to learn anything new. I am also a do-it-yourselfer… which is good since my husband drives a semi and is only home one day a week.
Well there it is. If you see one of my postings and it seems out of place please understand.I will improve.

Don't worry, you'll catch on quickly.Sounds like you've got some great hobbies. Glad to have you!
Hello All!
Like Stefanie, I'm horrible with this forum format, so you've been forewarned.
My name is Christopher and I'm 24 years old. I was born in Toronto, Ontario and now reside in Kitchener, Ontario. I've travelled quite a bit over the years having driven across Canada and some parts of the United States, and I even lived in British Columbia for about 5 years.
I'm fairly active and run and work out a lot. I'm also planning to run a 10k Marathon in September. I believe it's got something to do with Octoberfest but I'll admit I don't know too much about it. I also like to write short stories and do draw occasionally.
I've only recently started reading for leisure again after about 6 or 7 years, and I still find it's much more enjoyable than sitting in front of the TV.
Most recently I finished The Great Gatsby & Death of a Salesman, both which were immensely enjoyable. Last night I ordered Ulysses by James Joyce and Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, so I'm looking forward to those.
Anyway, I'm happy to be here, this seems like a very friendly community.
Ciao,
Christopher

Hello. I'm Ana, I'm 16 (soon I'll be 17 :P) and I'm from Portugal.
So far, I'm really enjoying the forum. lol I love to read and I love to discuss everything about books. That's one of the reasons I joined this forum.
I know: probably all of you will see a lot ot mistakes on my postings because english isn't my first language. I also joined this forum to develop my english skills and to have more contact with the language.
Nice to meet you all.![]()
Hello to all! I am new to this site. I am still trying to digest the vast material available on this brilliant site.
I love books. I have just found a new storehouse.![]()
HEY GUYS,
WELCOME TO OUR WORLD OF LITERATURE!!
I am not new, yet this is the first time I introduce myself to the forum!
I am Syrian. I love this forum coz it is multinational and coz it has always sth new to offer! I graduated from Damascus University last year and got a license in English literature. I am in the very first stages of doing my MA which is going to be on British drama. I am going to focus on the theatre of the absurd. I have just finished reading The Gift of The Gorgon by Peter Shaffer. I advise u to read it. I write poems; I have few of them in this forum.
I love Nietzsche, kafka, beckett, Shaffer, woolf, krestiva and many others.

I am an avid reader, writer, and teacher. I am a huge public library advocate and I am always on the prowl for great reads! I often find that I am reading a book that was written and popular years ago...please excuse me in advance if my posts seem dated! I am also usually on the library's 'most wanted' list for overdue books- I have ownership issues. (Did you know that library fines are now added to credit reports?) I intend to read your posts and learn from y'all. (Southern gal!) Thank you for this opportunity.

Hello everyone. Well, I've been here and gone off and on over the last couple of years or so and it has just hit me that I don't think I've ever posted and introduction during that entire time. So, for all who have been here for so long, sorry that was very rude of me. In my defense I seem to have trouble keeping my online activities strait. Most of my time is spent doing my courses for college. I've spent the last 4 years obtaining my marketing degree and am now completing one of my final two classes.
There isn't too much to know about me. I enjoy reading, writing, painting, quilting, cooking, and just about any other artistic pursuit I can think of. That said, I have very little time to do any of this. I'm a mother to two children and a wife so life is quite full. My son is now 4 years old and my daughter is just 9 months. Life is busy, but my time here is some of the only time I take for myself each day. I'm always trying to find new books and authors to read, but I'm also a fan of the classics. I love to discuss Shakespeare and I try to make time to look at some of what everyone is writing. For me this is my release. I can be part of discussions about my favorite stories, but I can also post my own story I am working on for critique. Though very rough, I am optimistic about the final outcome. I am currently laying out a real timeline and charater listing for my story Jump Awry, and even more fervently hoping for inspiration for a better title. I find little time to really put my ideas on paper, so my additions will generally be short and not as frequent as I would like. I am enjoying the writing process, though, since it has been years since I was bitten by my muse. I just need to find the time to lay the story out in note format, and then I can worry about the true writing of it. I find ideas are like momories and easily lost if you don't keep a record.
I hope to meet all of you in the near future and look foward to future discussions.
I am definitely not your typical subscriber, and my primary attributes would seem at first to be an oxymoron - an engineering computer science teacher who is a fundamentalist Christian. Yet, the more I study scripture, the more obvious it becomes to me that these two views are completely compatible. Just to clarify: my interpretation of "fundamentalist" is one who believes that the Bible in its original textual form is absolute truth, the result of mens' writing under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Moreover, that same Holy Spirit is present in the world today, and continues to reveal truth to those who would hear Him.
Being a newbe to this world, if we need a separate conversation on this topic, you might have to show me where to look.

Without further ado, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Morwen and I am utterly devoured by literature. A long and winding road leading through many literature forums has finally brought me here. I look forward to this new adventure. (^_^)
