Hi, I am glad a came upon this forum. It is nice to find a place to share my love of books, poetry, and music. I am an avid reader and have been as far as I can remember. I recently came upon a collection of books that was being thrown out and what I found was rather amazing. Though I don't know where to start. I have the following books and would love to know which books ya'll would recomend most from them.

A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
    Christmas Books - Charles Dickens
    David Copperfield - Charles Dickens
    Great Expectations - Charles Dickens
The Pickwick Papers - Charles Dickens
    Oliver Twist - Charles Dickens
    Mark Twain's Library of Humor
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer - Mark Twain
    Moby Dick - Herman Melville
The Last of The Mohicans - James Fenimore Cooper
The House of The Seven Gables - Nathaniel Hawthorne
The Red Badge of Courage - Stephen Crane
The Complete Sherlock Holmes Treasury - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde - Robert Louis Stevenson
    Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
    Tales from the Arabian Nights

Anyone who shed some light on the best place to start or any information about the books themselves that might make reading them even better please let me know.

    Thanks

Unhappy Someone help me!! I'm new to this!!!!

Hello everyone. I was hoping someone could help me out. My name is Kimmy. I just registered for the first time on this site tonight and created a profile. I have no clue how to even post anything or contact anyone. I'm wanting to post something on this book by H.G. Wells called The War of the Worlds. I'm not wanting to post this to anyone in particular, but practically anyone whose read this book. I just got done reading the book for school, and I have these sheets with questions I need to have answered from the book. There were 3 questions I was having a hard time with. I was hoping anyone whose read the book could try to answer any of these questions for me. I'd really appreciate it. I know this probably isn't the right site for this, but I need help asap!! My project is due soon and I don't understand it!! My 3 questions I need help answering for this are:

    1. What historical disaster does the narrator refer to in the book?

    2. When the martians died, where was the message sent to first?

    3. What technology was gained from the martians?

If anyone whose read this book can help me out, please let me know!! I don't know how this works or if anyone will even see this. If this is how it works, then please send me messages or respond to this somehow. Thank you so much to anyone who helps me out :-) I feel really stupid.

Some of my favorite authors are Barbara Kingsolver, Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, John Irving, and George R.R. Martin.

    Guess that's it for now.
Welcome Kratayra. Nice to see you here. I hope you like lit net. It's the best. Actually we are discussing John Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany in the book of the month forum this month. If you've read it, perhaps you can join in. Here's a short cut: http://www.online-literature.com/for...126#post373126.

Hi gymgirl! Welcome to the forum.

These are some really good books you have mentioned over here. I would especially recommend you Jane Eyre, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and A Tale of Two Cities. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is also a fine and a short read. I have read some of the Tales from the Arabian Nights. Well, their Urdu translation and they were enjoyable.

    Have fun!

Hey KxIxMxMxY51890, I am sorry I haven't read the book on which you need help. Somebody else might be able to help you, you can also post it in the related subforum. Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Hello, I joined a while back, then forgot about it, then remembered about it in my typically scatty way. As you may guess from my name, I'm a fan of Hamlet, and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead. they are both very clever plays. A couple of questions,
    1. How do you get an avatar?
    2. How do you change the little message under your name?
    3. I heard tell of a games section, where would I find this?
