This little light of mine, a gift you passed onto me,
    I'm gonna let it shine,
to guide you safely on your way

    Your way home...

Tool - 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2) (I had heard this, but I had to google...)

Aspen, Colorado on a Saturday night
Jesse wishes she was at home
Upset because her baby just aint treatin her right
    So afraid of being alone
Said she heard some stories hes been runnin around
Said somehow she knows its all true
She says a breaking heart can make a terrible sound
She said she dont know what to do
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

Yep! Also theme song for the Billy Jack films. Which is what I remember it from.

I never saw those, I just remember it from the millions of times we requested to sing it at either bible camp or sunday school. I think the counselors got so sick of that song though because everytime we would request it, they would roll their eyes. My mom, who was the musical director of our sunday school said she didn't have a problem with the song itself but it wasn't "theologically relevant".

The Harder They Fall ~ John Denver

when the weather's fine, when it's sunny outside
think about the time I kicked a boy 'til he cried
    oh, I could've been wrong, but I don't think I was
    he was such a child
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

    I Kicked a Boy~ Sundays

    We'll scorch the earth,
    Set fire to the sky.
    We stoop so low
    To reach so high
    A link is lost
    The chain undone.
    We wait all day
    For night to come
    And it comes
    Like a hunter child

Bad Religion ~ Let Them Eat War? (My son's music!)

He said it's only life's illusions
That bring us to this bar
To pick up these old crutches
    And compare each other's scars
'Cuz the things we're calling heartache
Hell, they're hardly worth our time
    We ***** about a dollar
When there's those without a dime.

    Some of us cry

Ships That Dont Come In - Joe Diffie

You knew that I was coming cause you heard my name
But you don't know my game and never felt my pain
Can't read my brain but you read my lips
And got scared when you heard that I was coming with hits
Now don't even trip, be a man instead
Give thanks I'm alive when I should be dead

    I know this one!
"Devil Without a Cause" -- Kid Rock
Ask not how I know this.

    Whiskey, gin and brandy
With a glass I'm pretty handy
I'm trying to walk a straight line
On sour mash and cheap wine
So join me for a drink boys
We're gonna make a big noise

    So don't worry about tomorrow
    Take it today
    Forget about the cheque
    We'll get hell to pay

Have A Drink On Me ~ AC/DC...I'm not a huge metal fan but I do like that album.

    Girl, if you're a seascape
I'm a listing boat, for the thing carries every hope.
I invest in a single lie.
The choice is yours to be loved
Come away from an emptier boat.

    Sea Legs - The Shins

There's a hold up in the Bronx,
    Brooklyn's broken out in fights.
There's a traffic jam in Harlem
That's backed up to Jackson Heights.
    There's a scout troup short a child,
    Kruschev's due at Idlewild

That's the Car 54, Where Are You? Theme ~ don't know the artist

She snuck out one night an' met me by the front gate
Her Daddy came out a-wavin' that 12-gauge
We tore out the drive, he peppered my tailgate

    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie

I pray you can make it better down here.

Dear God -XTC (love this song)

King meets queen, then the puppy love thing, together dream
Bout that crib with the goodyear swing
On the oak tree, I hope we feel like this forever:
    Forever? Forever ever? Forever ever?

I never understood all the words, but, given the last line, I'm going to say:
    "Miss Jackson" -- Outkast

Make his fight on the hill in the early day
    Constant chill deep inside
Shouting gun, on they run through the endless grey
On the fight, for they are right, yes, by who's to say?
For a hill men would kill, why? They do not know
Suffered wounds test there their pride
Men of five, still alive through the raging glow
Gone insane from the pain that they surely know
