There really isn't much to say about me. Mostly, I just do school and read in my spare time. Don't hang out with friends, kind of a loser...

For the past few months, I've just read chick lit and other modern creations centered around the romance/drama genre. Lately, though, I've been wanting to become more well-read, so I'm starting in on all the classics, starting (naturally) with Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. Admittedly, I started reading it because I'd loved the movie so much (love Kate Winslet) but later discovered just how close the movie was to the book. Emma Thompson did an excellent job keeping true with her screenplay.

Anyway, my hobbies include reading, acting, and singing. I always to the plays at my highschool and some of them happen to be musicals, which is where I developed my singing ability. Acting is really the only way I can just let go and use all my angst and emotion for something constructive and entertaining for other people. And reading, of course, I do all the time because I'm too damn shy to go out with people.

My favorite books include Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I don't have a specific favorite genre, but mostly I stick with romances, dramas, and stories geared toward females. Hope to expand my horizon though. Also, I love the Bridget Jones books by Helen Fielding. They're so hilarious and are the reason I sometimes use only the back half of sentences.

I am very glad to be part of the community and hope y'all will give me good book recommendations!

    Hello. I'm new to Forum.

Hello, everyone. I joined the Forum because I saw the "Best Short Stories" entries, and I thought it might be fun to list some of mine.

As far as authors, my favorites are classic authors: Faulkner, Guy de Maupassant, Melville, Flaubert, Joseph Conrad, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, and many others.

Hope to find some interesting lists and discussions!

welcome jjharbin! Great list of authors you have there. There are many wonderful discussions here that I am sure you will enjoy
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

    Hello!

I joined this forum yesterday, since the day has passed and now it's wednesday after a few hours.

I like staying up on nights pondering about life (Just kidding, but I like staying up doing absolutely nothing). I must admit there are very interesting and intelligent people on this forum (I learned so much vocabulary...) and would like to stay as long as possible.

I'm still working on structure, and vocabulary... as you can see it's quite poor!

So welcome me, for I am here to post, learn, and associate!

It makes me feel bad when people describe themselves like that, although I will be the first to admit I do the same thing. I hope you will like it here and find many new forum friends.

    Welcome
    And shepherds we shall be
For Thee, my Lord, for Thee
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand
That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee
And teeming with souls shall it ever be
In nomine Patri, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti
