The person above me is very compassionate .

Yes, of course I have. I've even practised your favourite song on the piano .

It seems the PAM is talented musically as well as culinary!
    Some of us laugh
    Some of us cry
    Some of us smoke
    Some of us lie
But it's all just the way
that we cope with our lives...

I feel an odd sense of kinship with the PAM because my sister is also bipolar and I know very well the struggles that come with that. I think you're a very courageous man.
the luminous grass of the prairie hides
feet lovely and still as sleeping doves,
porcelain bones strong enough to carry a life,
    but weighty and unmovable
    As black Dakota hills.

The person above me probably has the best taste in music and this site, as well as the braodest knowledge!

The person above me offers very valuable advice on which books to read next - I wonder how he managed to become so knowledgeable in only 45 years .

PAM is probably way ahead of me when I was her age.

Did you finish Conrad? What did you think?

I've met several gentlemen who are my age, but the person above me obviously is one of the rare ones who never stopped being one .

It was such a great read ! I've heard so many voices praising him, and was glad to find he wasn't overrated at all. Sadly, I only had time to complete Heart of Darkness, because the new semester's compulsary reading list kicked in before I could start one of his other novels, but I found Heart of Darkness one of the best constructed novels I've ever read, adding to Conrad's rich writing style. I was all the more astonished when I read that English wasn't even his native language, and that he was a seaman at first. His writing seems so educated to me.
Thanks again for suggesting it . Seeing that you also liked Ethan Frome, I now know for sure that I can rely on your taste .

Well, we'll see about your tastes next month when I read Owen Meany.

PAM is a very dedicated student of literature.

    The PAM is benevolence itself.
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
    "To talk of many things:
    Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
    Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
    And whether pigs have wings."

    Thank you.

PAM has a lovely new avatar which threw me off because I had associated her with the previous one.

The PAM is full of life and her posts are cheery. I wish only good things for the PAM.
