Though this movie has been around for a while, I had the privilege of seeing it just recently, Pride & Prejudice. What can I say, I loved it.

For those who are feeling ill, cheer up, you have my sympathies, too. Some nice tea and honey may help? And a nice hot bath -- that always helps. Take care!

Thanks for the loving, motherly advice - how nice tea and honey; sounds comforting, like in Peter Rabbit. His mom knew what to give her bunny for comfort. Yes, the hot bath is on the schedule...and soon. Helps me breathe better. Mentholyptus couch drops are helping emensely. I have already eatten two bags full in three days. Hope you can't overdose!

Which Pride and Prejudice did you see? - the BBC miniseries with Colin Firth. I really liked that one, if that was what you were referring to. I love the book and it seemed to follow it well. Oh, maybe you mean the newer film version with Kira Knightly. I saw that one, too. It was more up to date, but I liked it very much. I liked the swing scene and the photography/ cinematography emensely. England never looked more romantic. Soundtrack is lovely, too. I put it into my wish list in Amazon to buy later, when I see it at a good price. I love period films!
Did you see the BBC miniseries "Persaussan" with Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root? It was good, too. I loved the end. Both books by Austen are great.

Sorry quasimodo, I still have not seen "Pan's Labarynth". YOu have me interested and I will view it one of these days; be patient. If you say it is good it must be worth a watching. Think I saw it in my library once. Will look again when I go back there.

    300. Nice graphics and all but don't expect to learn ancient Greek history from it.

I wanted to see it, but it just moved on from this area. I'll have to wait until it's on DVD.

I did, however, go out and see "Der Leben des Anderen" ("The Lives of Others") again today. My former rating (10/10) still holds. See it! It must be seen!!!!!

I don't believe that one can overdose on Mentholyptus couch drops, and I really think that those will indeed help the stuffy symptoms. I really hate the plugged ear thing, so yes, you definately have my sympathy!

As for the Pride and Prejudice version -- I saw the newer film version with Kira Knightly. I completely agree with the sentiments you voiced above. Particularly with the music enjoyment. I went to our local music shoppe and purchased the piano music for the movie. What is particularly satisfying is working on the song entitled "Dawn", by Dario Marianelli. What beautiful music!

I didn't see the BBC miniseries you mentioned, but it would be worth looking into, for sure!

Amazing movie, philip glass does the soundtrack which makes it even better. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that hasn't seen it.

Niamh, Hmmm, now I have to go look "Empire of the Sun" up to refresh my memory. I saw a film "Little Budda" and Keanna Reeves plays Budda. Now that was a bit strange casting. He was young, not quite a kid. I often spot stars in films, when they were young or children. Not long ago, I saw "Forever Young" and the kid was star of "Lord of the Rings", Elijah Wood. He was great in that. He was adorable as a young boy in "Forever Young". Now he has gone on to be in some really good stuff. I liked him in "The Icestorm", directed by Ang Lee.

Hope you get well with rest and sleep soundly. 4 AM sure comes early. Maybe you got my flu bug at the airport - came in on a plane. That is probably it. Hope you are better soon. Take care and rest when you can.

    Janine

PS: and I had a flu shot this year - must be a different strain.

I last saw Persona by Ingmar Bergman.

I have to say that it is this most higbrow and thought provoking film I have ever seen.

If you can find it, please give it a go.

another similar but inferior firl was made called Powanasquatsi, tolerable and useful for comparison to the earlier work but don't go out of your way. No Phillip Glas i think. Some saving graces. RJS

Yes, Niamh, that is a good one! Avian Flu I get it Maybe someone brought it on board a plane in a bottle! Whatever it is, we don't want it anymore, right? I hope you are not feeling as horrid as I am today. If not better than this tomorrow, I am calling my doctor for help. He better have something up his sleeve to help me.
